CHRISTMAS TREE SPECIES: Balsam Fir - Fir trees hold their needles well & are a good choice if the decorated tree is to be left standing for a long period of time. Needles are 2-3 cm in length, are rounded at the tip & are a dark, shiny green in colour. Unlike spruce needles, fir needles are flat & will not roll between your fingers. Balsam Christmas tree branches work well for lighter ornaments.
