Sponge bars help the needles sit at the appropriate height to move when the carriage passes over them; gradually it compresses and loses density, and requires replacement.
The sponge bar/needle foam for the LK150 mid-gauge knitting machine is a strip of foam that you can install yourself (there are several very helpful videos on YouTube if you decide to go down this route!), or we can install it for you in your machine. Installation is an additional charge of $30 and includes oiling the machine after installing the new sponge bar, cleaning the machine as needed, and test-knitting the machine to ensure it is in perfect working condition.
