When I say to people that we are Certified, they often ask, "What does that mean?"
CPOs earn their credential by proving they embody the founding principles, have the requisite experience, adhere to the BCPO Code of Ethics, and comprehend the entire body of knowledge required to pass the Board of Certification of Professional Organizers (BCPO) examination. Every 3 years we renew membership and need to have taken 45 credits in those years.
Are you an empty nester? When did your children move out? Yesterday, last month, or 10 years ago?
Don't worry if you said 10 years ago and you still have boxes of their things in your basement, you are not alone. It is common. However, just because your friends are "doing it" doesn't mean you need to. Call your children, ask them to come and get it or you will be donating to your local charity. If they live out of province or out of country the next time they are home, go through it and have them take what they want and get rid of the rest. Why? Because it is theirs!!
