ITCHING FOR SPRING?
Monday, March 18, 2024 – Itching for Spring?
While the weather & temperatures try to figure themselves out, we have enjoyed some beautiful spring days this March…so far. Has it given you the ‘itch’ to knit some lighter weight projects? If so, we are highlighting a lovely cotton/bamboo yarn along with a few pattern suggestions in today’s email.
Perfect for both knit and crochet!
Bamboo Cotton from King Cole is made from 100% natural fibres! This luxurious blend of 50/50 Bamboo and Cotton is perfect for delicate, sensitive skin.
Bamboo is well known for its softness and antimicrobial, non-allergenic properties, as well as its moisture wicking and temperature regulating benefits.
This beautiful yarn is smooth, airy with a delightful drape and has wonderful stitch definition making it an excellent choice for lightweight garments and accessories as well as baby blankets, gentle facecloths, and easy-care summer items.
Bamboo Cotton is beautifully soft and strong – soft enough for baby’s skin and robust enough for baby clothes that need to be in and out of the wash!
We stock 22 colours…

So now the question is…what can we make with Bamboo Cotton? Here are just a couple of ideas…
Coastland is a summer tee inspired by the sandy, rocky landscape found on the coastal beaches of Maine. It features a textured eyelet slip stitch pattern with a fun, subtle pop of contrasting colour, making it a lovely summer top that you can layer over a tank or camisole…or turtleneck (see picture of Abby wearing the Vincas Top further down in this email). If you make the companion piece, Coastland Cowl, it can add just that bit of extra warmth during the transitional seasons.

Farro Squared is a lightweight Tee, designed to be worn with 4-8” of ease, or to your liking!
The welting pattern is simple, and drapes nicely. There is no neck shaping, since the pattern stitch shapes the neckline nicely on its own. A lightweight, airy cotton blend lends itself perfectly to this gauge.
Side slits, neckline width, and sleeve openings are all determined by your preferences, as the front and back are sewn together after knitting and are easily customizable.
