THREE FALL PROJECTS

Monday, September 11, 2023 – Three Fall Projects

Despite the heat wave that we experienced last week (and it was a HOT one!!), the calendar tells us that the fall season is upon us, or will be shortly.

With that in mind, we wanted to share with you three patterns – a cowl, a shawl and a bag to start us out in preparation for the approaching cooler weather that fall brings with it.

The shawl and cowl are easy accessories to put on or take off in order to provide that little bit of warmth here and there during this time of year.

The bag is a handy carrier for any projects that you are working on. Or use it to carry the shawl and/or cowl with you and keep them handy for when you feel a chill in the air.

Last week to pre-order!

September’s Colour of the Month
Ancient Arts Colour of the Month for SEPTEMBER is now available for pre-ordering…it is a LIMITED EDITION colourway, that is only available this month, and then it’s gone for good.

COLOSSEUM AT DUSK, ROME Colourway

Our September Colour of the Month takes its colours from the many stunning photographs taken of the Colosseum at dusk, when the arches are lit by golden floodlights, and the amphitheatre glows against the darkening sky. There's even a touch of green for the lush grass.

The Colosseum at Dusk, RomeColour of the Month (COTM) colourway is dyed on Ancient Arts Socknado base (fingering weight #1); made of 80% superwash fine Merino wool and 20% nylon with 350m/100g; $32.98 each.

To Pre-Order: call us at 519-474-0403 with your name, payment information and number of skeins needed. Pre-Ordering deadline is Saturday, September 16, 2023.

THE X-FACTOR COWL
by Louis Boria

This oversized cowl is a great accessory to take the chill off your shoulders or wear around your neck and it is so easy to put on or take off as the need may be during the fluctuating temperatures that we experience during the fall season.

The X-Factor cowl is worked in the round with textured faux cables on the top and bottom, and a small mesh panel in the centre. Perfect for your autumn wardrobe!

Twisted stitches pop and create faux cables in The X-Factor Cowl.

Finished Size: 42” circumference x 14” high (107 cm x 35.5 cm)

ILLUSIONS BAG
by Dragonpine Designs

This is a fun project to practice your fairisle knitting skills! Knit in the round with just two colours, the pattern has a striking 3-D effect, especially when the two colours are strongly contrasted.

Shown above knit with Cascade 220 & following the DK weight instructions.

The Illusions Bag is knit from the bottom up, starting with a provisional cast on at the fairisle pattern, then finished by picking up the stitches from the provisional cast on and knitting the bottom border of the bag down to a shaped gusset and then it is closed with either a 3-needle cast off or grafting.

Pattern is written for three weights of yarn – DK (#3), Worsted (#4) and Aran [aka ‘heavy worsted’ (#4)]

Many thanks to Cheryl for knitting this sample with Briggs & Little Heritage

Fairisle pattern is charted and two options are given to finish your bag with either straps or cords.

If you knit with a pure, untreated wool, your bag could also be lightly fulled to add a bit of thickness to the finished fabric, if desired.

We have two Illusions Bags on display at the store for your viewing pleasure.

TO PURCHASE: This pattern comes to us from London Yarns in-house design team and is available for purchase in print at the store for $5.98.
