Hello again everybody and Happy Family Day to all of you!
Patti-Ann has prepared another inspiring email this week for all of you, but before we dive into that I just wanted to announce that we are;

EXTENDING OUR STORE HOURS!

That’s right, starting this Thursday, February 23rd, we will be open until 6:00 pm each and every Thursday! We hope this helps all of you better plan your trip to the shop and gives you a bit more flexibility to make it in for all of your fibre therapy needs. Store hours will remain the same (11:00 – 4:00) for Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday, and we will remain closed on Sunday & Monday. We hope to see you soon!
Cheers!

Janet

Today’s “Four Great Projects” offerings include a MKAL, a garment, socks, and a shawl and two yarn kit offerings to boot! As each of the projects & kits are fairly self-explanatory, we will jump right to it!

Project # 1…

A New Mystery KAL
from Paper Daisy Creations
and Ancient Arts Yarns!

Ancient Arts is delighted to be a participating dyer for the newest Mystery Knit-Along (MKAL) from Lisa K. Ross of Paper Daisy Creations! Here's what Lisa has to say about this MKAL…

"Are you looking for a little bit of fun these days? This mystery cowl is just for you! Simple stitches come together in unique and surprising ways to create something both fun and unexpected in this bandana style cowl. This is the perfect transitional piece for your wardrobe - a light layer that will add colour and flair to any outfit! It's full of bite sized clues filled with stitches that are easy to work, though the unique construction will keep you guessing about what surprises are coming next."

Lisa's designs are always delightfully intriguing and this is a great way for us to play with colour.

If this is your first MKAL, it’s the perfect introduction with only minimal time and yarn commitment.

Ancient Arts Yarns have created kits in four lovely colour combinations, and they are ready for immediate shipment so that we will have them in plenty of time for the first clue!

Ordering Deadline: As we are on a tight time frame for these kits, the last day to order is Saturday, February 25th.

How does one participate?
Go to Ravelry and sign up for the MKAL buy purchasing the pattern.

What to Expect:
“This design was created to bring JOY to your needles by playing with color and simple textures. All of the stitches are easy to work, but the unique construction will introduce both challenges and surprises. I’m always hoping to guide your knitting skills to the next level, so I’ve created video tutorials and diagrams to help along the way. It’s an intermediate pattern, but I love helping adventurous beginners level up! I want this to be a HAPPY new accessory, and a knitting experience that is SIMPLY FUN!” – Lisa

Herding Cats Socks
by Stone Knits

“Whether you want to make these socks dedicated to every cat you have ever met (like my pair!) or to honour just one special feline friend, these socks are so much fun to knit and wear. I wanted to create a sock pattern that we could all knit to show our love and dedication to our cats, whether they are still with us (probably demanding a snack right now) or no longer here.”

“These socks are purrrfect for wearing when outside trying to herd your cats in for dinner, or for snuggling with your cat (if they´ll allow it!) on the sofa. Knit from the top down with a ribbed cuff, these socks have a ‘no wrap’ short row heel and a stranded colourwork pattern throughout the leg and foot.” – quoted from the Ravelry pattern page

Project # 3…

A Customer & Staff Favourite Renewed!

Isn’t it amazing how the choice of yarn can give this top a whole new look?!? Cheryl just completed another Weekender! This time she chose to knit it with Berroco Sesame and it looks amazing!! The fabric is sooo soft and flows beautifully with just the perfect amount of drape. The yarn creates interest with both its texture and colour changes.

“This drop shoulder sweater is my most favorite addition to my handmade wardrobe! I combined my favorite attributes – texture, faux seams, drop shoulder, and some positive ease to create this versatile, flattering sweater! No matter your body type, it is perfect for wearing to the office or out on your weekend hike in the woods. I’ve already knit a second version, leaving off the sleeves so I can wear it in warmer weather or layered over a long sleeve tee!” – quoted from Ravelry page

About the yarns…

Sesame is a gorgeous, self-patterning, worsted weight blend of wool, acrylic, cotton, and nylon. Each of these fibres takes the dye differently, producing an interesting marbled effect. Sesame has a subtle sheen and tiny little bobbles and flecks that run through the yarn adding to the texture and giving it a subtle tweedy effect.

Sesame is multi-textured and multi-coloured treat to work with! And did we mention that it is machine washable?!?

Sesame comes in big 100 gram ball with generous 210m/230yds of yarn.

Sesame is the perfect versatile yarn for any project, from multi-season garments to accessories that can be worn year-round.

AND...

A much loved addition to the Cascade 220 range with a colour shift effect. The colour repeats are very long (full transition is around 1,000 yards) with some high contrast and some tonal colourways.

It is a natural fibre yarn – a superwash wool, yet it is easy-care, meaning you can machine wash and dry it! It’s great for all ages, and comes in a wide array of colours. From accessories and kids items to blankets, shawls and quick knits, this is the perfect yarn! So soft & squishy, it’s a joy both to work with and to wear.

220 SUPERWASH WAVE SHADE CARD – $17.98 per skein

Project # 4…

We want to give a ‘shout out’ to Carol D. who shared her newly completed Roman Villa Shawl with us!

Carol came in to the store to share the beauty of her project with us…she has just completed knitting the Roman Villa Shawl and it is STUNNING!! She says it was ‘a fun and interesting shawl to knit with a lovely blend of textured stitches and mosaic patterning.’ Carol is a beautiful Knitter, indeed.

Carol chose to make hers with Berroco Vintage DK and it is “so warm and cuddly” she says. The fabric is soft and cozy and the stitch definition is lovely.

Look how amazing it looks worn as she shows here…

Well done, Carol!!

And there you have it...Four Great Projects.

If you have an questions, we are always happy to help!
