Cozy up in this combination of a cowl and a shawl for the ultimate cushy comfort. Crocheted in plump, cozy and colourful chunky weight yarn, this cowl will keep you warm even in the chilliest climates. It features a deep, roomy neck with a stylish pointed front – creating an easy to style, lovely combination of a shawl and a cowl that stays in place.

This cowl is worked flat from the top down. After working even, decreases are made to shape the front tip. Then, the sides are sewn together to form the cowl.

You will work Front Post Double Treble Crochet stitches with placements that will create “v” shapes for a herringbone look. This will be referenced in the pattern to help enhance the instructions.

About the yarn…

Marble Chunky is one of James C. Brett's most popular yarns due to its versatility, softness and the remarkable number of variegated shades available. Each shade has an attractive mixture of contrasting colours, from brights to pastels, from jewel tones to earth tones and everything in between.

With 312 metres in each large 200 gram ball, it's a great economical choice for cozy sweaters, accessories, and home decor projects. It works up fast to a chunky weight gauge (#5); also great for crocheting!

And the colour combinations are so beautiful! This yarn is made from 2-ply’s, each a different striped colour, twisted together to produce a fabulous variegated yarn.

Ancient Arts November
Colour of the Month

L'ANSE AUX MEADOWS, NEWFOUNDLAND
It was the photo of the sod-roofed dwelling in the photo below that was the inspiration for the November Colour of the Month, and you can see that we incorporated the green of the sod, the brownish tones of the dirt, the silvery grey of the weathered wood fence, and the blue of the sky (and a bit of the sea in the distance.)

This LIMITED EDITION colour is now available for pre-order – we only get ONE chance to order this colour, so don’t miss out!

The “L'Anse aux Meadows, NL” Colour of the Month colourway is dyed on Ancient Arts Socknado base, in fingering weight (#1); made of 80% Superwash Fine Merino Wool and 20% Nylon with 350m/100g; $32.98 each.
