TWO SWEATERS & A CAL
Monday, August 29, 2022 – Two Sweaters & a CAL
Hello, and how are you doing on this last Monday of August? With September just a few days away and the cooler Fall temperatures that come with it, we might start looking at a few projects to spruce up our Fall wardrobe.
As it happens, thanks to the talented knitting skills of both Cheryl & Carol, we have two new model garments gracing our shelves that would be perfect to wear for Fall and they are the feature of today’s email, together with a Crochet Along (CAL) that will be starting in two and a half weeks.
First up…
Our Cheryl’s Lethe Cardigan
This cardigan is shaped with raglans and has a lovely rib and cable collar. Body is worked in one piece to underarms, and then divided for back and front. Sleeves are worked in the round to underarms, and then raglan sleeve caps are worked back and forth in rows.
Finished Measurements:
Bust (closed): 33½ (38, 43, 47½, 52, 57, 61½, 66½, 71, 76)” / 85 (96.5, 109, 120.5, 132, 145, 156, 169, 180.5, 193) cm
Length: 22¾ (23½, 24, 24½, 25, 25½, 26, 26½, 26¾, 27)” / 58 (60, 61.5, 62.5, 64, 65, 66.5, 67.5, 68.5, 69) cm
Recommended positive ease of 2”- 4” / 5-10 cm.

BERROCO MOCHI ($16.98/175m/50g): 5 (6, 6, 7, 7, 8, 9, 9, 10, 11) balls; shown below in colour #3223 Blueberry; MOCHI is not in stock but it can be ordered by the ball in any colour offered on the Berroco Mochi Shade Card.

Gauge: 17 sts and 26 rows = 4” in Stockinette Stitch
Needles:
5.00 mm x 80 cm (US 8 x 32”) circular needle or size to obtain gauge

CHERYL’S YARN CHOICE…
Cheryl used the Lethe pattern but added her own creative spin to the garment by using a cotton blend DK weight yarn, held together with lace weight mohair. It’s an ingenious fibre combination! The cotton/acrylic makes it more wearable year ‘round and the mohair adds just a touch of warmth along with such a subtle, inviting halo to the finished fabric.
Shown in Softee Cotton, col. 69020 and Drizzle, col. 8027 held together throughout.
YARDAGE: 875 (1050, 1050, 1225, 1225, 1400, 1575, 1575, 1750, 1925) mtrs each of yarn (Softee Cotton and lace weight mohair), held together throughout.

This circular yoke sweater takes a surprising twist with diagonal colourwork cascading down from the neckline. Enjoy simple, engaging, and meditative knitting as the branches swirl around the yoke as you work. I used 2 shades that are similar in both colour and darkness, for a smooth transition through the colourwork (shown in the photo below). Your colour choices can change the theme of this design entirely. I see pine boughs, feathers, golden grain swaying in the wind, or a sunlit meadow. The yoke is beginner friendly with memorizable motifs and top down, seamless construction makes it easy to try on this sweater as you knit.

Needles:

Construction:
Starting at the neckline, this sweater is worked seamlessly from the top down starting with a rolled neckline. The stranded yoke is worked and then short rows are added to shape the back of the sweater. The sleeves and body are separated and worked in the round.
