CUTE, ‘MUST HAVE’ ACCESSORIES

Monday, May 30, 2022 – Cute, ‘Must Have’ Accessories

What beautiful weekend weather we all had to enjoy! Hope you were able to get outdoors and soak in some of the splendor of the days and the tranquil evenings.

First in our email today, we share with you some really cute accessories from Lantern Moon that have just arrived.

Next…have you noticed how colourwork is re-emerging and becoming more prevalent in our craft again, like colour yoked sweaters, fairisle and mosaic knitting? Well, we have some very useful tools in-stock to help us pick colour combinations that are guaranteed to work.

And then we have a couple of free ‘one & two skein’ pattern projects (along with yarn suggestions) for that very special skein of yarn that you have been eyeing. Either of these projects may be just the ‘excuse’ you were looking for to take that wonderful skein home with you.

Lantern Moon’s Sherpa Accessories Holder is a delightful way to hold and display many of your crafting tools, while keeping them close at hand and ready to use.

This plush, white Sherpa Sheep is softly padded and lined with cotton to keep all of your accessories safe and protected. It is also weighted for stability. (Note: tools not included)

Approx. 6” long x 3” wide; $27.98

This adorable ewe from Lantern Moon exists to make your crafting even more enjoyable. She promises to always be on hand and hold anything you might need to make your work go smoothly. She’s weighted for stability so you don’t need to worry about her falling on the job. The pockets on her apron can carry multiple small items and your scissors can easily be affixed with the velcro closure at the end of that ribbon she brings with her. Baabs will hold scissors, needle tips, hooks, stitch markers, cable needles, etc. (Note: tools not included)

Approx. 5” tall; $27.98

One can never have enough project bags! Especially one as naturally cute as these!

The Meadow Drawstring Bag from Lantern Moon are made with a soft, high quality, natural undyed cotton, with gusseted bottom and a handy drawstring closure that easily cinches closed to safely protect your projects and tools.
But the main attraction of the Meadow Drawstring Bag is the wooly textured sheep with embroidered accents. How adorable!!

It’s the perfect size for small to medium-sized projects – not too big, not too small…it’s ‘just the right size’.

Available with black sheep or white sheep embroidered on the front of the bag.

Approx. 11” wide x 11.5" high x 6” deep; $27.98

Hey! What if we add a little accent to our new Meadow Drawstring Bag?!?! Wouldn’t a cute enamel pin be like the ‘icing on the cake’…especially if we are gifting it to a friend or fellow crafter?

NEW TOOLS…

COLOR GRID
by Gail Callahan

Colour wheels serve as excellent guides, but they do not work for everyone. The Colour Grid is based on sound theory, but you don't have to learn that theory.

The Colour Grid will reveal colour combinations that are guaranteed to work, and at the same time, build your own colour confidence. Selecting colour is simple using the Colour Grid for any project.

The Colour Grid is laid out on a 2D "grid" surface that anyone can master. This intuitive layout allows for an easy understanding of how colours work together. Once the cover template is removed, place the largest hole over a colour, the surrounding holes will reveal colours that work together.

If you place the template vertically on the grid the holes and slot will show shades and tints of colours which will work together.

Place the template horizontally, and the slot will reveal the colour to give your project a spark. Use the Colour Grid in any project!

When you are finished using the Colour Grid, return it to the clear sleeve to keep the pieces together. Printed in the USA.

Size: 9½” tall x 4" wide; $17.98

Do your handmade projects hit the perfect note for colour combinations? If not this three-in-one colour tool will have you picking yarn (or fabric) combinations like a pro! Includes CMYK and RGB formulas plus HEX numbers for web design.

It's simple:
  1. Start with your desired colour card
  2. Choose one of the colour scheme options
  3. Find the corresponding companion cards to create the perfect colour combination
  4. And shop it out!
Voila, the perfect combination every time!
We have found a couple ‘one & two skein’ projects for you to try with your favourite fingering/sock weight yarns – we have so many of them to choose from, including our Zen Yarns Trunk Show! Cowls aren’t just for winter wearing! This infinity scarf is designed to use a single skein of that special fingering weight yarn that you have been saving (or eyeing).

The stitch pattern combines cables and lace, giving the final piece a very interesting texture. It is easy to memorize, but it is challenging too, so you will not get bored while knitting this cowl.

This cowl is easily customizable to make it bigger/smaller or taller/shorter and instructions are given in the pattern for modifying the size. Pattern is both written and charted.

Finished Size: 40” / 100 cm circumference x 10½” / 26 cm high

Yarn: 365 mtrs (400 yds) of Fingering weight yarn (#1)

This pattern is available as a free Ravelry download

Gauge: 26 sts = 4” (10 cm) in Cable / Lace Pattern.

Needles: 3.50 mm x 60 cm (US 4 x 24”) circular

(The newest colours of Queensland Perth
are calling out to make this colourway!)

Playful is a fun and straightforward two-colour garter stitch shawl that is suitable for ALL knitters, including beginners. Simply choose two beautiful skeins of fingering weight (#1) yarn and you’re ready to cast on!

The shawl is worked flat in one piece from the top right corner across and downwards. Two increases at the beginning and one decrease at the end of every RS row creates an asymmetric triangular shape.

The size of the shawl can be adjusted to suit the amount of yarn you have.
(Envision using Eco Cashmere, Sabri or
Eco Llama to achieve the above colourway)

Finished Size: 84½” / 215 cm wingspan x 17” / 43 cm deep, blocked

Yarn Requirements:
One colour - 700m / 760 yds total Fingering weight yarn (#1)
Two colours - 350m / 380 yds for each colour Fingering weight yarn (#1)

This pattern is available as a free Ravelry download

Gauge: 18 sts = 4”/10 cm in garter stitch after blocking

Needles: 4 mm x 60 cm (US 6 x 24”) circular needle

Soooo….how ‘Playful’ will your shawl be?
Will it be showing off the beauty and richness of a neutral palette? Or will it be bright and colourful? With this pattern, the ‘sky’s the limit’! Be as imaginative and creative as you feel possible.

Have a look at what some of our fellow Ravelry-ers have done…

These next two Playful shawls are interesting. Both knitters used two solid colours but in very different ways. In the top picture, the knitter used col. A, then col. A-B, then col. B, then col. A-B again, then finished with col. A – quite striking!

And in the bottom picture, she broke up the A-B-A-B colour repeat with an eyelet row, here & there – how creative!

And there you have it – the conclusion of yet another Monday email from London Yarns. We appreciate, so very much, all of you dear readers and the kind, encouraging comments and positive feedback about our weekly email. We have the best customers EVER!!

Thanks for reading,
Patti-Ann
