30 KITS FOR 30 YEARS!

Monday, November 8, 2021 – 30 Kits for 30 Years!

In keeping with our ongoing 30th Anniversary celebration and theme, this week we are offering you 30 hand-chosen colourway kits for “Beneath a Summer Sky” shawl, all put together by the staff here at the store. Each kit represents either ‘the gift’ associated with the anniversary year being celebrated or the ‘theme colour’ associated with that year.

To view all 30 of the Kit colourways offered, continue scrolling down, or CLICK HERE to be taken directly to the Kits webpage. But first, here are some details about the shawl itself.

Dusk into night during Summer, with its glorious blues, purples and pinks across the sky are the inspiration for this shawl. Simple increases worked in a delectable fingering weight yarn highlighted against the stockinette stitch of the Lace Mohair, gives the shawl a light and ethereal effect.

Beneath a Summer Sky is an asymmetrical triangular-shaped shawl that consists of simple garter and stockinette stitch stripes coupled with a slipped stitch pattern. The slipped stitch pattern is repetitive and relaxing. Instructions for making the pattern larger or smaller are included in the pattern. A stitch count table is also included for tracking your count over repeat rows.

365 mtrs (400 yds) Fingering weight (#1) yarn for colour A
365 mtrs (400 yds) Lace Mohair (#0) yarn for colour B

Whether we like it or not, we are heading into the season of hats & mitts! Why not get a ‘head start’ (pun intended) with a fresh, new set to keep you or a loved one warm this winter? To do just that, here is some pattern inspiration and yarn suggestions…

Do you love knitting cables just as much as you love wearing them? Then you’ll be thrilled to make up this hat & mittens set! Knit with worsted weight (#4) yarn, you will have them done in no time and they will be cozy warm to wear.

The travelling cables wind & intersect until they frame a garter stitch diamond motif, and then carry on.

The mittens are patterned on both the front and back of the hands, so you can enjoy these cabled beauties no matter which way your hands are facing.

The hat is knit in the round, starting at the brim and the cabling continues on right up into the crown, as it is skillfully incorporated into the shaping.

This set is not only wearable,
but giftable too!

Each pattern includes:
• Both written and charted instructions for the cable patterns
• Link to a photo tutorial for the tubular cast-on method (this suggested method is optional)
• 4 pages of detailed, tech edited and test-knit instructions
• Beautiful colour photography
