ART DECO BLANKET KITS
Monday, July 19, 2021 – Art Deco Blanket Kits
Today’s offerings are Art Inspired Blanket Kits! We have one knit pattern and one crochet pattern that just happens to be part of Crochet-A-Long (CAL). And the choice of NINE different kit colourways for both Knitters and Crocheters. We have chosen to use Cascade Anthem for these kits – good yardage, cost effective, easy to work with, machine washable and wool-free.
So, what kit colours do we have for you? Well, here are the nine art pieces upon which the blanket kit colours are based:

Inspired by the intricate piecing of patchwork quilts, the large, brightly coloured stars and squares in this afghan are mainly composed of mitered squares. Since the colour changes within the squares are all in straight, intuitive lines, this is a perfect project on which to learn the art of intarsia. The straight lines also make the chart easy to memorize, so you can comfortably engage in conversation or TV watching as you work.
Finished Measurements: 50” wide x 60” long
Gauge: 18 stitches and 34 rows = 4” in garter stitch
Needle: 5.50 mm (US 9) or size needed to obtain gauge

“Enjoy a staycation this summer and join Cascade Yarns and Melinda Miller for a Crochet-A-Long (CAL) using Cascade Yarns Anthem. The Art Deco Afghan is an 8 part CAL running from July 7th to August 25th. Every Wednesday for eight weeks, a new part will be published. You will make the specified sections each week until you have created your own beautiful piece of art. Finished measurements after blocking will be 42” x 58”. The lovely Tania Leis (“Hooked by TJ”) will be providing her wonderful video tutorials for this CAL.
Art Deco is a style of visual arts, architecture and design that first appeared in France just before World War I. Art Deco influenced the design of buildings, furniture, jewelry, fashion, cars, movie theatres, trains, ocean liners, and everyday objects such as radios and vacuum cleaners.
