Before we begin our regular Monday email, here is a personal note from Janet:
Hello Everyone:
I just wanted to reach out to all of you today for a number of reasons…..
First and foremost, I wanted to thank each and every one of you, our wonderful customers for your support, loyalty, and understanding over the past 15 months as together, we have been diligently fighting the battle with Covid-19. Here at the store we have taken every precaution and followed every government mandate while still doing our best to provide you all with your fibre therapy needs. Thanks to all of you who have been so supportive and have respected the way we have conducted business throughout the pandemic.
It is our goal to re-open to the public when we can safely do so, but currently, WE ARE NOT ABLE TO BE OPEN AND ALLOW CUSTOMERS INTO THE STORE. The Ontario Government is very clear about the regulations for non-essential retail stores, and calculates how many customers can come into the store by taking the total square footage and subtracting from that the areas of floor space occupied by fixtures and utility areas. Currently, 15% customer capacity is the rule for in-store shopping, so the result of the calculation for our store equals less than 1 person! We will have to patiently wait until restrictions are eased a little bit more before we can welcome you back inside. Again, I cannot thank you all enough for your understanding and support.
Now, on an upbeat note, 2021 is a very special year for us here at the store, as
September 30th, 2021 marks London Yarns 30th Anniversary!
Time for celebration!
Please watch your weekly emails closely over the next few months as we are planning lots of fun events as we celebrate this milestone together. We couldn’t have done it without all of you, our fantastic, loyal customers!
We plan to share some history, stories and photos of the past 30 years with all of you, and of course the biggest anniversary gift of them all will (hopefully) be having an in-store celebration to properly commemorate this event. Let’s all keep our fingers crossed, and we will keep you up to date with all of the happenings from our end.

The theme for 2021's Colour of the Month (COTM) series is “Words That Inspire Us”. So often, a simple word can inspire a cascade of thoughts, emotions, and memories. When it is an inspiring word, we can use it as a support and whisper it to ourselves under our breath whenever we need to give ourselves some reassurance and encouragement!
- Colour of the Month colourways are ALL “LIMITED EDITIONS”. Once they sell out, Ancient Arts will not re-dye that colourway again for at least a year, if ever!!
- ALL of the COTM colourways are dyed onto Ancient Arts fabulous, soft & squishy Merino Socknado base.

HOPE
HOPE - The Oxford dictionary defines hope as the "belief that something you want will happen." It's a sense of optimism and positivity that things are going to get better. As 2020 drew to a close, all of us here at Ancient Arts realized that we were feeling a renewed sense of hope for the coming year.
HOPE COLOURWAY
These are also the colours of the early blooming plants of spring - tulips, narcissus, irises, daffodils. All hardy flowers that remind us that warmer weather is just around the corner, surviving, and blooming, in spite of any sudden snowy setbacks.
RENEWAL
RENEWAL - It is the perfect word to describe the joy and anticipation that we feel at this time of year, when the days get longer and the snow melts away and the first green shoots appear in the flower beds. Our spirits are rejuvenated with the eager anticipation of warm sunny days, the smell of a fresh spring breeze through an open window, the chirping of birds and the happy sounds of children playing outside. The coming of Spring brings with it a sense of hope and excitement that all things are possible and that positive changes are just around the corner.
RENEWAL COLOURWAY
Here in Calgary, one of the first spring flowers to appear are the tulips. This Colour of the Month was inspired by the beautiful Princess Irene Tulip, whose bold orange and purple petals just shout "Spring's here!"

SERENITY - Our word for this month is Serenity, and the Inspiration for the colourway is this beautiful photograph of a jellyfish, floating serenely in the silent depths of the deep blue sea. Close your eyes for a moment and imagine yourself floating weightless in the warm water, gently drifting along with no concerns or worries. Silence. Peace. Calm. Serenity.

Our word for June is Adventure, and our inspiration is this photo of Dan in his happy place. Now that the weather has warmed up and the sun stays up later (in the Northern Hemisphere), Dan is able to take his bike out of the city and have a wonderful ride in the evenings after work! Now this isn't a gentle ride in the country - oh, no, not our Dan! He loves extreme mountain biking and the way in which it tests his skills and abilities. For him, mountain biking is about overcoming obstacles, forging connections with friends, and trying new things!

We hope that our June COTM, Adventure, inspires all of you to ride toward the sunset with the enthusiasm and the confidence to know that you too, can conquer whatever lies ahead!

The most popular and versatile yarn base from Ancient Arts Yarns is Socknado; made from top quality merino wool blended with just the right amount of nylon to provide durability. Socknado is suitable for all your crafting needs and for all types of projects - baby clothes, sweaters, shawls, mitts, gloves, and hats, and it is our recommended yarn for knitting long wearing socks. This sock yarn is twisted and plied (three ply), it is soft and strong, and is a joy to knit and wear.

Characteristics of the Icelandic wool:
Unique in its composition, Icelandic wool consists of two types of fibres:
INNER FIBRES = INSULATING: Fine, soft, highly insulating.
OUTER FIBRES = WATER-REPELLENT: Long, glossy, water-repellent.
Together, these two distinctive fibres create a wool that is:
Lightweight - lighter than most other wools, keeps you warm and comfortable.
Water-repellent - repels rain and stays feeling dry.
