BUBBLE TEA NONCHO & MORE

Have you heard of the “Bubble Tea Noncho”? Neither had I...until today! It is our feature of the week and includes a FREE PATTERN download with kit purchase.
The “Bubble Tea Noncho” – ‘not-a-poncho’ (but it totally is a poncho!) is designed by the fabulous Casapinka to support Local Yarn Stores (LYS). She has designed shawls in the past for LYS Day, and did so again this year…BUT got the dates mixed up – oops! So instead, we are saying this pattern is in support of “National Bubble Tea Weekend” (hence the name of her pattern)…and of course, in support of LYS’s too.
Casapinka has designed her Noncho pattern with SEVEN sizes, ranging from XS to XXXL, thus suitable for all shapes, sizes and body types.
Kits are available for sale starting now and offered only until Saturday May 1st, 2021.

Note: The kit itself would make a lovely gift for a Knitter friend, letting them know that you are thinking of them, especially during these challenging times.
We have put together 12 different kit options for this poncho. Each kit comes with instructions on how to arrange your colours, enough yarn to knit the Noncho, and a redemption code for a FREE copy of the Bubble Tea Noncho pattern on Ravelry.
You will require 4mm (US 6) circular needles to knit the Noncho (ranging in length from 16” to 40”, as it is knit in the round in one piece from the top down) – a great project for those Interchangeable needles!
All kits feature Universal Yarn’s Bamboo Pop, a DK-weight yarn made up of 50/50 blend of bamboo and cotton; machine washable.
SIZING NOTE: As this is a poncho, not a sweater, measurements are given for the largest point of the poncho, which must fit around both the arms and bust. This is not a standard bust measurement!

Length for all sizes: 17¾”, easily adjustable.

First, it is an actual drink!! It originated in Taiwan and is a creamy sweet tea drink garnished with tapioca balls that look like pearly bubbles floating on top (or sinking to the bottom).
“National Bubble Tea Day is a holiday that’s celebrated annually on April 30th and has been celebrated since 2018. What is bubble tea? Bubble tea is a beverage that was created during the 1980s in Taiwan and is known by a variety of other names such as boba milk tea or pearl milk tea. This tea is made using either oolong, green, or sometimes black tea and can have a variety of other ingredients added into it including sugar, ice, various fruit flavorings, fruit jelly, agar, aloe vera, and/or tapioca balls.” – quoted from holidayscalendar
