“Just as we thought the internet couldn’t get any better, a well-known designer on Ravelry made a sweater pattern styled after Bernie Sanders’ famous mittens that he wore at the Inauguration. Now you can knit a sweater (the pattern has been graciously published by Caitlin Hunter on Ravelry for FREE!) to match your mittens!

We are certainly not suggesting that you MUST knit your Bernie sweater or mittens in shades of brown; we are trying to stay as close to the original mittens as possible for those that want to be faithful to the original. Taking a browse through the projects on Ravelry already posted for the Feel The Bern sweater, you can see that almost every colour of the rainbow is being used! CLICK HERE (make sure you are logged into Ravelry first) to browse through the projects online if you’d like to knit the sweater, but need some colour inspiration other than brown.” - Jen

A note from the Designer: “The design can easily be lengthened if crops aren’t your style, instructions are included in the pattern. This design is simple enough for an adventurous beginner, yet still engaging for advanced knitters. Best of all, the cropped length and sleeveless style make this a super quick and gratifying project. The body length is easily adjustable; keep in mind changes will alter the yardage required.”

Our ‘Feel the Bern’ Kit Includes:
Berroco Vintage Worsted ($11.98 per skein) in the colours of the kit of your choosing (see kit options below). All kits are priced according to how much yarn is required per kit, and DO NOT INCLUDE a copy of the pattern. If you need a printed copy of the pattern, please let us know at the time of order.
Please note: these kits are ‘special order’ to ensure we have sufficient quantities of the main colour in the same dye lot for the size you require. We anticipate an expected delivery date of February 10th for any kit ordered by February 3rd.
Sweater Sizing:
This sweater is designed to have 2”- 4” of positive ease in the body. This means you should choose a sweater garment size that is 2”- 4” LARGER than what you measure for a loose-fitting sweater. If you wish the sweater to be tighter fitting, choose a size with less difference between your measurements and the sweater measurements.
Sweater Sizes: 1 (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10)
Finished circumference at bust: 32 (36, 40, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60, 64, 68)”
Yarn Requirements & Kit Cost:
Sizes 1 & 2: 5 skeins total; $59.90 (+tax)
Sizes 3 to 5: 6 skeins total; $71.88 (+tax)
Sizes 6 to 10: 7 skeins total; $83.86 (+tax)
** if you want to the body of your sweater with a longer body and/or with longer sleeves, please add an additional 1-2 skeins of the Main Colour to your kit order.
