RAVELRY PATTERNS

Monday, April 6/20 – Ravelry Patterns

First, a Message from Janet…

“Greetings Everyone!”

I am going to try to make this excerpt in today’s email a fun & positive outlet for you. As many of you know, my husband Darrell and I are sequestered in our little cottage in the north woods of Quebec. What started out as a very innocent and planned vacation, has turned into quite the adventure! We left for the North on Thursday, March 5th and planned to return the weekend of the 21st. The good news is that we are safe & sound, isolated and secluded, and I packed LOTS of knitting! (Never again will there be any question as to how much of my ‘stash’ and knitting supplies that I can pack for a road trip.) HA HA!

Writing today’s email has been ‘fun’ (tongue firmly planted in cheek). You see, we have no hydro, no internet (except for a bit of data on our phones), and of course, no WIFI. A big “thank you” goes out to Patti-Ann for helping me put all of this together.

Patti-Ann shared a couple of pictures with you all last week of our Winter Getaway. I still find it hard to believe that you are enjoying Spring there with Robins, flowering bulbs, and warmer weather, whereas we are still in the throes of Winter. The days are definitely getting longer and the snow is starting to melt, but the ice on the lake is at least two feet thick and the only way in & out is a 10km ride, one-way, by a snowmobile. It’s hard to believe!

I would like to offer you a little diversion, but I realize that a personal story is not for everyone. If you would like to read more about our story, and our way of life up here, tune into next week’s email.

Today, Patti-Ann is going to share with all of you the wonderful world of Ravelry. With so many of us having extra time on our hands, Ravelry is a super outlet for knitters, machine knitters, fibre artists and crocheters alike. If you haven’t already ‘gone down that rabbit hole’, please check it out with Patti-Ann’s guidance. Jen and Patti-Ann have been working diligently to add more of our Dragonpine Designs patterns to this site. Please take a peek and maybe treat yourself to one of the new additions to our lineup.

With the extra time I find on my hands these days, I am taking that time to complete designs and create new ones, both by hand and by machine. I even packed yarn for a crochet design that I hope will be a success. Some of these designs and ideas have been “swimming around in my head” for years now. Many of the yarns have made several round trips with me to the North and back. This time many of them are enjoying their time on the needles! Believe me, once we get back to some sort of normalcy there will be loads of new projects and workshops to keep us all engaged. I can’t wait!

Until next week,
Janet

Not familiar with Ravelry?

About Us
“Ravelry is a place for knitters, crocheters, designers, spinners, weavers and dyers to keep track of their yarn, tools, project and pattern information, and look to others for ideas and inspiration. The content here is all user- driven; we as a community make the site what it is. Ravelry is a great place for you to keep notes about your projects, see what other people are making, find the perfect pattern and connect with people who love to play with yarn from all over the world in our forums.

How did this site come about?
Jess had been a knitter and a blogger for a while, and, because she was an active blogger, she knew that there was all this great information out there from other fiber lovers – but with the growing number of crochet and knitting blogs, finding that information just kept getting harder! It was getting frustrating for her to try and find information about the patterns and yarns that she was interested in using. Cassidy thought that she would be able to build a website that could solve these problems, so they started working on it together, introducing it to a few friends at a time.” – quoted from Ravelry

On a lighter note…

Our friend John, from Estelle Yarns, sent along this word search for us to do – it’s a little distraction from our day to day activities and a diversion from the stress we all feel at the moment.

Find all 16 words to complete this puzzle. The answer will be sent out in next Monday’s email.

Until next week, we hope that you & your loved ones keep well,
Patti-Ann
