Before we share with you the free patterns, here is a brief update:
London Yarns Update
Effective Immediately
After much deliberation, I have made a very difficult decision, one that I thought I would never, ever need to make in my 28 years of operating London Yarns. We are temporarily closing our store to walk-in customers as we try to do everything we can to stop the spread of COVID-19. Many local retailers have also had to make this same decision as we all unite in dealing with this outbreak. For all small business owners, myself included, the days of uncertainty ahead are nothing short of terrifying.
HOWEVER, our main target in all of this is to ensure the safety of our staff, our customers, and our entire community. We are all in this together. Health and safety first.
The good news though, is that we are still available to serve you! The store will be OPEN from 12- 4pm daily, 7 days a week for curbside pick-up. If you prefer, we can also courier or mail your order to you. Simply give us a call or email us your order and we will prepare it for you right away. Our weekly emails will still continue coming into your inboxes keeping us all connected that way as well.
We will keep monitoring the situation day-by-day and announce any new changes or developments as they become available.

“Let’s all “knit” through this together”!
With a lot of us spending more time than the norm isolated at home, I think it appropriate that we gravitate towards a nice, new, relaxing project or two that will flow rhythmically through our hands without overwhelming the brain.
While I have been sequestered in the north, I have been getting my “Zen” moments from a couple of my recent projects that I would like to share with you today.
Both patterns are very simple to knit; one is a cowl, knit in the round and the other is a rectangle Shawl, both of which we hope may give you some calm during this anxious time. We are sharing these two patterns with you free of charge – just click each link to download the pdf pattern.
We would be happy to kit up the yarn for these projects and have your order ready for ‘at-the-door-pick-up’, or if you prefer, we can mail it to you.
First up:
Self-Spiraling Cowl
This simple, *Knit 3, Purl 3* pattern, magically creates a spiral due to the number of stitches. No need to mark the beginning of the round; just check your stitch count and then Knit 3, Purl 3 ‘until the cows come home’!
I took a slight deviation from my usual colour choice and went with Sirdar Elemental in this stunning, rich, dark copper (colour # 300) that has caught my eye since its arrival. This cowl used 3 balls and was knit on 10mm needles. – Janet

Secondly:
A ‘Comfort Shawl’ – providing comfort to both the knitter and the wearer (even if that person is one & the same).
