LONDON YARNS CONTINGENCY PLAN
Tuesday, March 17, 2020 – London Yarns Contingency Plan
ATTENTION - ALL VALUED LONDON YARNS CUSTOMERS!!!
Good afternoon everyone, it’s Janet here with some very important announcements regarding the store and the days ahead as we face this unfortunate viral outbreak together. To say that I am concerned, worried, and frightened over the scope of this COVID-19 pandemic is an understatement.
My husband and I are safe for the time being. We left for a trip to the cottage in northern Quebec on March 5th. Shortly after that, the situation started to worsen and elevate and now here we are in the midst of a State of Emergency. My husband Darrell has a pre-existing lung condition and the thought of him contracting this virus is terrifying to us. We are “holed-up” in our little cabin in the snowy woods, 10 km from any town and frankly, quite happy to be here in seclusion hoping the threat of the terrible virus is contained quickly and an antidote found.
Just as it is important for my family to be safe, I feel the same way about all of my staff and all of my customers. We must all get through this together by being pro-active and well-educated about personal contact, and heed all warnings and advice handed down from our health officials and government agencies.
In light of this, here is the plan for London Yarns over the next few days:
Tomorrow, Wednesday, March 18th will be the last day that the store will be open to the public. We will be open from 10-5 and will be strictly observing the precautions outlined in yesterday’s email.
- Knit Groups are cancelled.
- H.E.L.P. sessions are cancelled.
- Classes for March are cancelled and will be rescheduled.
- Machine Knitters Club for March is cancelled.
- No “in person” help at the counter.
- No personal contact with everyone abiding the 1 metre distance social distancing.
- Lots of cleaning and sanitizing.
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, March 19-21 respectively, we are planning to have the store open for business with reduced hours from 12-4 using a “closed door” policy. No one will be permitted access into the shop but for those 4 hours we will be there to answer the phone, field enquires, and prepare orders for parking lot pick-up or shipment. After hours, please feel free to contact us through email, or through our website.
We will continue to monitor and re-assess the situation as things progress. We will be in touch as need be, with this developing situation.
As scary as it is to have such a huge interruption in my small business, I feel very strongly that it is even scarier not to take this situation seriously. I appreciate all of you trying to help and support the store in whatever way you can and it is my hope we will all get through this unscathed together.
