‘Tis the season of the Shawl!
Shawls have definitely taken the knitting world by storm and rightfully so! They are a fun project to knit and offer such variety in style, weights of yarn, pattern design, colourwork, and different ways to wear them – practical yet fanciful!
That being said, we have another finished shawl to share with you and hopefully inspire you as well.
Introducing...
This is a FUN knit!! ‘Easy-peasy’ garter stitch sections are sporadically interrupted by fun, ‘easy to follow’ short row twisted lace inserts, then back to more ‘easy-peasy’ garter stitch, plus a pretty cast off that frames the shawl perfectly!
The Water shawl pattern provides instructions in both written and chart form.
Water requires approximately 686 mtrs - 732 mtrs of fingering weight yarn (we used Zen Yarn Garden Superfine Glitter) and has a finished size of 72” measured along the wingspan and 20” measured at the deepest point.

“Water is an asymmetrical triangle shawl worked with the same technique found in Waiting for Rain (amongst some of my other shawls), the technique I’ve called Softsweater Knits Charted Lace Short Rows.
The added fabric from the watery twisted stitch lace short rows creates a wonderful unique shape reminiscent of a teardrop. Turning the otherwise triangle shawl shape into something more likely to fall from the sky as rain.” – quoted from Water pattern page on Ravelry
