Please Note:  The store is closed today, Monday, September 2nd for Labour Day.

Welcome to September!!  Did the summer fly by for you too?!?!  Shorter days and cooler nights indicate that summer is winding down and coming to a finish.  For those of us sad to see summer mostly behind us, may we take some consolation in realizing that this also means that we are heading into the Fall season and with it new yarns, new patterns, new inspiration in the love of our craft.

Before we get to the new Sock Yarns, we want to extend to you a very special opportunity

Berroco, one of our suppliers, has made available to us a “special ONE-TIME order” for

These Alafoss Interior Blankets are
hand-woven with 100% pure Icelandic wool.  Here’s a brief description from Berroco:

The blankets come in various patterns, colours and textures. Single delivery for October 2019 – just in time for the holidays!”

Characteristics of the Icelandic wool:
Unique in its composition, Icelandic wool consists of two types of fibres:

INNER FIBRES = INSULATING:  Fine, soft, highly insulating.

OUTER FIBRES = WATER-REPELLENT:  Long, glossy, water-repellent.

Together, these two distinctive fibres create a wool that is:
  • Lightweight - lighter than most other wools, keeps you warm and comfortable.
  • Water-repellent - repels rain and stays feeling dry.
  • Breathable - moisture passes through the fibres away from the skin, keeping you dry and comfortable. – quoted from Istex
In Summary:
  • This is a special, one-time order
  • Ordering deadline is September 13/19
  • All special orders require pre-payment
  • No ordering limits
  • $279.98 each
  • Expected Delivery Date – Mid to late October

And now, on to our new sock yarns....

NEW SOCK YARN...

SOCK TWINS
Do you like your socks to match?  Introducing... Sock Twins Multi and Sock Twins Mouline.  Estelle has done all the work for us and wound this new sock yarn into two identical 50 gram balls, so now we can knit a matching pair of socks without all the fuss.

Sock Twins “MULTI” is aptly named, as it has 4 multi-coloured plies that change colour, while Sock Twins “MOULINE” consists of 4 plies that change colour over time.  The colour changes in both of these yarns result in a marled, gradient effect and come in a nice variety of colours!

Have you always wanted to knit your very first sweater, but are afraid of what could go wrong?  First there’s gauge, then yarn choice, then picking the right size, then figuring out where to measure from, and then there are those pesky instructions that say “AND AT THE SAME TIME…” and…OH BOY!  Whew. Knitting your first sweater can be a challenge!

Come demystify the art of sweater knitting with us this fall!  We have chosen “Flax” – a seamless, top-down, knit in one piece in the round pattern to make knitting your first pullover an uncomplicated, enjoyable and successful experience.  Of course, we will help you throughout the process, including casting on, raglan increases, how to separate the sleeves from the body, casting on and off mid-row, measuring gauge, and figuring out all the “knitting math” you’ll ever need to know to successfully complete any other pattern you wish!

The Flax Pullover pattern ranges in size from newborn all the way up to adult 4XL!  This means that people of all shapes and sizes can be accommodated, and this versatile unisex design compliments everyone.  Choose the size you wish to knit, and come knit your very first sweater (or your second, or third, or fourth, or…!) with Jen at London Yarns!  Please keep in mind that the larger the size you knit, the more homework will be required between classes.
Rated:  All Knitters
Pre-Requisite:  comfortable with knit and purl stitches, comfortable knitting in the round.

Have a Happy Day!
