Janet has just launched a brand new pattern for Dragonpine Designs, our ‘in-house’ design label, called “Cozy Cables & Braids Throw”. This pattern booklet offers you the choice of working with Worsted weight yarn or Chunky weight yarn and gives 4 finished sizes for each weight, a total of EIGHT sizes in all!
Yardage requirements are thoughtfully given for the Throw only in each of the 8 individual size. If you choose to add a fringe or tassels, then the required amounts of additional yardage are given, so that you aren’t purchasing more yarn than you actually need.
The alternating cable panels are highlighted and framed by cable braids running parallel. This Throw is knit all in one piece so, no seaming needed! Instructions are given to finish your Throw with Tassels or Fringe, if desired.

Have you ever wanted to learn the 2-colour brioche technique but been too intimidated to try it on your own? The Cordoba Cowl is a great introduction to 2-colour brioche!
In the first class we will learn the basic brioche stitches “bark” (brk), “burp” (brp), and the slip one yarn over (sl1yo) technique. Homework will take you halfway through the cowl, and then in the second class we will learn the basic left and right-leaning decreases, as well as the brioche increase. After that, you’ll have all the knowledge you need to tackle any brioche project!
We will be using super-bulky yarn and large needles, making this a ‘quick knit’ project, perfect for gift-giving. Adapt the pattern to different weights of yarn (we’ll learn how to do this, too!) and you’re off to the races.
Skills learned: brioche knit and purl, brioche right and left decreases, brioche increase, and the brioche yarn over.
Rated: All Knitters
Pre-Requisite: Must be extremely comfortable with knit, purl and yarn over stitches, comfortable reading a pattern, and comfortable knitting in the round.

“ALASKA” FAIRISLE HAT – Learn the “Two-Handed Fairisle” Knitting Technique
One 3-hour Session

This is the perfect time of year to knit this beautiful Fair Isle hat! Join Janet to learn the “Two-Handed Fair Isle" method of knitting colourwork. Unlike stranded Fair Isle knitting, the Two-Handed Method automatically eliminates any floats from occurring on the wrong side of the fabric! This is accomplished as the colour not in use is magically woven in with the colour that is in use. Here is the best part….. Your 2 yarns NEVER GET TANGLED UP! Once you have learned the 3 simple steps to this technique, you can use the Two-Handed Fair Isle method on anything Fair Isle; sweaters, yokes, shawls, wraps, cowls, scarves, mittens, hats, you name it! The Alaska hat is knit in 2 colours of 4-ply Fingering or “Sock” Weight yarn. Choose from two solids or a combination of solids, tonals, or self-patterning yarns. Knitting this hat is very rhythmic and is a nice project that is light in your hands. The pattern will be provided digitally via email and a working copy will be printed and provided for use during class.
(* depending on yarn choice, you may have enough yarn to complete two hats, by reversing the colours for the second hat)
