PORTABLE PROJECTS

With Summer just around the corner, we know that many of you like to travel and/or spend time at the cottage. So today we thought we might offer you a little pattern inspiration that makes for great ‘car knitting’. These portable, travel-friendly projects are light in the hands and make for ideal ‘summer knitting projects’.
First up, we have Lacey Fingerless Gloves, designed by Cathy and knit with Zen Serenity Silk+.
- Uses just 130 mtrs fingering or sport weight yarn (that means that you can get 3 pair from a 100gr ball of ‘sock’ yarn!!!)
- Pattern written to fit average ladies hand
- The 4-row pattern repeat is easy to commit to memory

Next up, we have a brand new Shawl pattern, knit with Katia Versailles yarn – Shimmering Waters Shawl:
- Uses 300 metres of DK/Sport weight yarn
- A triangle that is 60" along the top edge & 30* deep at the point
- The 8-row pattern repeat is easy to knit and memorize
- Finished Size is easily adjustable
Pattern Note: This is a triangle shawl, knit from the point up. The finished size is easily customized and the stitch pattern can be used with any weight of yarn – the thicker the yarn, the larger the shawl. Knit the pattern as written using more or less metres to make a larger or smaller shawl; or choose to use a different weight of yarn with appropriately matched needles.
The Shimmering Waters Shawl is knit with just 3 balls of Katia “Versailles” yarn; in stock and available in 9 colours …

- The Shawl is knit using a slip stitch pattern, meaning that you only work with one colour at a time!
- Uses just 200 grams of fingering weight yarn (model knit with Zen Serenity 20)
- Shawl can be knit with just one colour, or with two colours (as shown)
- This is an asymmetrical triangle that is 60” along the longest edge & 30” deep at the widest point
- Size can be adjusted according to metres available
- Special instructions are given for carrying the ‘colour not in use’ inconspicuously up the edge until needed - no cutting of colours in this Shawl!
The slip stitch pattern in this shawl, along with the decorative edge, creates a fabric design that closely resembles a brick & mortar structure.
