NEW NEEDLES, NEW YARN, NEW PATTERNS

Monday, March 18/19 – New needles, new yarn, new patterns

A BIG Thank you to all who came out to our Sale Event over the weekend and ‘rescued’ many green yarns from captivity in our shop!

Thanks for being ‘Yarn Heroes’!!

Last week, we announced the arrival of all the Knitters Pride ZING needles…

ZING’s are here – in fixed circulars and double points (straight pairs will be arriving in the very near future).

Well, a week has gone by but not without a number of deliveries to the store (more details to follow)!

Today, we are pleased to let you know that we now carry, and have in stock, Knitters Pride BASIX BIRCH knitting needles – giving you two standard, consistent choices of good quality, yet affordable, knitting needles from London Yarns; that of Zing (metal) or Basix Birch (wood).  Using good needles can make all the difference, helping your knitting experience to be all that much more enjoyable with the right kind of needles.

Basix Birch Fixed Circulars
  • Basix Birch have the lightness of birch and the strength of natural wood
  • Needle tips made of birch wood mean perfect points
  • Polished wood surface works effortlessly with every type of yarn without slowing down knitting rhythm
  • A smooth join ensures easy stitch glide and no snagging
  • Resilient, flexible cords lay flat with no kink or twist – easy to store
  • Now available up to Jumbo size 25mm (US 50)
  • Provides hours of pleasurable knitting with no hand fatigue
  • Warm to the touch, and gentle in the hand
  • Available in sizes 2mm to 25mm (US 0 – US 50) and cord lengths from 40cm – 120cm (16” to 47”).

Basix Birch Double Points
Knitter's Pride Basix Birch Double Pointed Needles are made from birch wood, making them both lightweight and strong with a smooth finish and perfect birch wood points. The needles emphasize the natural properties and strength of wood, and have the beautiful, bright colour of the birch tree.

The lovely natural material makes the needles comfortable to use and you can knit for hours without getting sore hands and fingers.  These needles are ideal for knitting with many types of yarn as they slide easily through the stitches without catching on the yarn, and are available in ‘hard to find’ larger sizes required for today's popular bulky weight yarns.

Available in an 8” length in a wide range of sizes from 2mm – 25mm (US 0 – US 50).  The DPNs come in sets of 5 needles of the same size.

Building Blocks Knitting Book
By Michelle Hunter

Build your knitting skills one square at a time!

“Building Blocks” is a series of 12 fun patterns that will build your knitting skills. Starting with simple knit and purl stitches, your confidence will grow as you progress through several major knitting principles. Each block focuses on new stitches and techniques in a sequential fashion that “builds” upon the previously learned skill.

At the end of the series, the knitter is rewarded with an abundance of knitting know-how and 12 beautiful squares to assemble into a sampler afghan, baby blanket, pillows or anything limited only by your imagination!  Knit with an Aran weight yarn.

As an added bonus, all the techniques featured in this book are supported with FREE online video instruction available at www.KnitPurlHunter.com

Building in Color
By Michelle Hunter

“I’m excited to announce my new skill building series featuring color work! Learn to expertly manage multiple colors while creating a gorgeous sampler afghan. If you loved Building Blocks then this follow-up book is for you!  Many of the designs are timeless favorites, some are original creations, and ALL of them are deliciously fun!  Ten colourwork panels combine to make this blanket.

To make all of the “Building In Color“ panels in the book, you will need a total of 2568 mtrs of worsted weight yarn (856 mtrs in each of 3 different colors is recommended).

As an added bonus, all of the techniques featured in this book are supported with FREE online video instruction available at www.KnitPurlHunter.com– quoted from Ravelry

Building in Color is a carefully designed sequence of patterns that introduce knitters to colour work in many of its various forms. This work follows the same format as Michelle’s earlier book, Building Blocks, and though it is the logical next step in a knitter’s educational arsenal, it can also be used as a stand-alone series of patterns that result in a beautiful finished blanket.
Building with Lace
By Michelle Hunter

Helpful Hint:  This would look faaaab-U-lous!! knit with Cotton On DK

Building with Lace is the third publication from renowned knitter and teacher, Michelle Hunter. It is a carefully designed sequence of stitch patterns that introduce knitters to lace work starting with the basics and working towards more difficult stitch patterns to make one gorgeous, elegant wrap/shawl.  Knit in a sport/DK weight yarn.

This work follows the same format as Michelle’s earlier publications, Building Blocks and Building in Color, and has been a long awaited addition to this educational series.

This pattern is supported by Michelle’s excellent, and free, online video instruction.
