Monday, January 28/19 – Beat the Winter “Blahs” With Us!
A Personal Note from Janet:
Well, here we are, 5 weeks into the winter season. Welcome to the first month of 2019. The holidays are long since over and the weather continues to be horrendous; one day we are shivering with -20 degree temperatures and the next day it pours rain! Don’t put away your winter woollies just yet though, these next couple of weeks are supposed to bring us more arctic conditions! On the up side, the days are gradually getting longer. Cold out or not, it would just be lovely to see a few days of sunshine!
While we all forage our way through winter, let’s band together to beat the “blahs”. Here at the store we have planned some exciting events to lift your spirits, get you out and about, and most importantly to keep you in “fibre therapy”.
Nothing beats the winter blahs like a fantastic SALE EVENT, a new MYSTERY KNIT-A-LONG, A-N-D some fun NEW WORKSHOPS in the works, and just your luck, we have all 3 to offer you!
Remember the warm, long days of summer, when every Wednesday we offered you a fun and fabulous Sale Day? Well, we have decided to bring those fond “Summer Savings Event” memories back over the next few weeks by offering you great savings on your favourite things on Wednesdays, the day we are open the longest, from 9:30 am – 8:00 pm. See details further on in this newsletter.
As well, we are pleased to be offering all of you a BRAND NEW Mystery Knit-A-Long (MKAL). This MKAL is going to be totally different than any other we have offered in the past. This MKAL is a trio of hats! Each hat has a different construction technique, a different style, and each hat in the trio uses a different weight of yarn. We are accepting registration for this new MKAL starting immediately and anticipate the first clue to be sent out on Thursday, February 7th and each Thursday thereafter. Mystery Hat “A” will consist of 3 clues, Mystery Hat “B” will consist of 2 clues, and finally, Mystery Hat “C” will be one single clue.

We are very excited to offer you a brand new Mystery Knit-A-Long (MKAL)!!! Are you excited?!?!?! As Janet mentioned, this is unlike any other Knit-a-long that we have ever offered.
This all new 2019 Mystery Knit-A-Long is going to be fun-Fun-FUN and unique, too!
MKAL – ‘A Trio of Hats’
- 6 weeks
- 3 hats
- 3 different construction techniques
- 3 weights of yarn
Each hat has a different construction technique, a different style, and each hat in the trio uses a different weight of yarn. Mystery Hat “A” will consist of 3 clues, Mystery Hat “B” will consist of 2 clues, and finally, Mystery Hat “C” will be one single clue – a total of 6 clues, which will be sent out weekly by email, on Thursday’s, starting Feb. 7th. The complete printed patterns (included in the cost) will be purchased from Ravelry and sent to you by email at the end of the MKAL.
The MKAL registration fee of $90 includes: 6 weekly clues, all yarn needed to complete all 3 hats & 3 purchased Ravelry patterns.

BEADED FAUX FUR TRIMMED COWL
Uses just 200 mtrs of DK Weight Yarn, 35 mtrs of Faux Fur Yarn (shown with Chinchilla) & 50 grams of beads. Knit one up for yourself and then be prepared for it to be admired – you may just receive a few ‘Can you make one for me too?’ requests!

Attention Machine Knitters!! Judy has tirelessly designed another triangle shawl for Machine Knitters – the sequel to her Summer Flowers Shawl, this new shawl is called “Fall Leaves Shawl”. Soon we will have one knit & named for each season (though they are suitable to wear year ‘round)!
FALL LEAVES SHAWL on the LK150
The Fall Leaves Shawl uses just 800 mtrs of fingering weight yarn and is knit entirely on the LK150 knitting machine. The pattern has detailed row by row written instructions and clearly identifies each and every transfer! Hurry in for your own copy!
