A BIT OF ‘THIS & THAT’
Monday, October 29/18 – A Bit of ‘This & That’
Good Morning! Today we have lots to share with you, but with no common thread, other than they are all exciting things to pass along to you – hence the subject line of today’s email – “A bit of ‘This & That’”. Today, we have new sock yarns, new pompoms, new Knit Group, new patterns and new classes – lots to cover. And so, without further ado, shall we get to it?
LAST CHANCE!
We bought up the last of our suppliers stock of Flotte Sockes Limited Edition Seansonal Print!! When it’s gone, it’s gone....we can’t get any more! So HURRY IN, as this yarn seems to fly off the shelves!
Rellana’s classic Flotte Socke 4ply is available, with a limited supply, in a brand new Fairisle 2018 Xmas pattern and as well, the 2017 Xmas colourway. The difference in the two prints is the shade of green – 2018 has brighter Holly green, while the 2017 has a darker Evergreen green.

HAND MADE, luxury faux fur pompoms. Yes, that’s right... all faux fur – no animals were harmed in the making of these pompoms!!
Don't be fooled by how real they look (& and they DO look real) as they are made completely out of man-made materials. These pompoms are STUNNING – hand made with great care out of soft & silky faux fur!! The detail in the faux fur fabric is incredible with subtle highlights of various colours in each pom's tufts. The fabric itself is comprised of varying lengths of fur-like fibre mimicking the depth and texture of the real thing in a variety of animal-like colours. The ‘Fur’ is of very high quality that has a lovely, gentle sheen to it.
TWO NEW PATTERNS...
Janet & Sherry have just published two new patterns under our ‘in-house’ pattern design label – “Dragonpine Designs”, with more new patterns in the works & on their way!
First up, we have Sherry’s “BLOOMINGDALE HAT” – a lovely, cabled hat pattern with a long ribbed brim that folds up for extra warmth. Made with DK weight yarn, this pattern offers 4 hat sizes from newborn up to Adult and offers you a one or two-colour hat option. Pompom is also optional.
Shown in “Child” size & knit with two colours of Sugarbush “CRISP”.
Next, we have Janet’s “HONEYCOMB COWL” pattern. This cowl is knit in the round using a chunky weight yarn. Pattern gives just one size, but is easily adaptable to making it longer and/or wider.

CABLED COWL or SCARF
One 2-hour Session

Date & Time: Friday, November 16/18 from 10 am – 12 pm

This class will give you a chance to work with a bulky weight yarn that knits up quickly and at the same time, add to your knitting skills repertoire! The Cabled Cowl or Scarf class is suitable for all knitters, from beginners who know how to knit & purl to the experienced who want to brush up on their cable skills (i.e. How to prevent “that gap” at the cable crossings). And, you may choose if you prefer to knit the pattern as a cowl, or to finish it as a scarf.
During class you will learn how to read a pattern, do a provisional cast on (or crochet cast on, if you are knitting the Scarf), keep borders aligned, seed stitch, crossing cables both right & left, use of cable needle, markers & lifeline, and to finish your Cowl, you have the choice of mattress stitch, 3-needle cast-off or grafting. Plus any number of other skills/techniques that may arise in class from what we affectionately call a “Teachable Moment” (i.e. picking up stitches, ripping back, fixing miss-crossed cables, etc).

Come join me in a beginner needle felting class! Have you ever wanted to try your hand at needle felting, but can’t figure out where to begin? This class is for you! We will learn the basics of needle felting while using the new needle felting kits from Infiknit to make your choice of either a Poinsettia Flower or a Christmas tree ornament!! Each kit contains enough fiber, felt & accessories to make two felted ornaments in the shape of decorated trees or two felted flowers in the shape of a poinsettia. Sew a flower onto a hat, headband, or bag. Use a flower for a brooch (two brooch backs are included), a place setting, a fridge magnet and much more.
Finished Flowers & Trees each measure approx. 2” x 3”. Extra kits for both the Flower & Tree Ornaments will be available for sale after class because, take my word for it: needle felting is great fun and you’ll want to keep going at home!
