PLEASE BE ADVISED: With the road to our front entrance being paved and open, we would highly recommend using it. Though the back entrance is still accessible, it is currently somewhat of a ‘rough road’ due to all the rain that we’ve had – many potholes. So, please come to us via the Front Entrance to our complex.

Over the next number of weeks, we are going to try something just a little bit different for a change. In addition to keeping you up to date with what’s happening in the store, we want to offer you the opportunity to access some “special order” items that we don’t necessarily keep in stock.
We have had a number of requests for a ‘super bulky’ yarn, so this week we are featuring as a “special order” – Gorgeous by Sirdar. We have a skein in stock so that you can “see it in the flesh” before you place your order. All special orders require prepayment. Leaflets are in stock and can be purchased at any time.
GORGEOUS
Sirdar Gorgeous is a wonderfully soft and cozy super bulky yarn. It is the perfect yarn for creating amazing bulky accessories and incredible home wares. Sirdar recommends knitting this yarn with 20mm needles – talk about “quick knit”!! Gorgeous comes in a beautiful range of 9 shades that includes both classic neutrals as well as trendy brights.
Sirdar’s Gorgeous pattern leaflets include designs for cozy Cushions, Throws, Rugs, Scarves and a Hat. Each ball band has a free, 1-skein cowl/snood pattern printed on the back. Gorgeous is a blend of 51% wool and 49% acrylic, hand wash only and reshape the garment while still wet.
Please note: This is a single-ply yarn and as such can pull apart occasionally. To prevent this, please twist the yarn as you work to ensure that the strand holds together.

FUNKY FUR
This furry, silky eyelash-effect yarn is perfect for knitting or crocheting wraps, scarves, cowls, hats, stuffies, and is a fun addition when used for trims & edgings. This yarn is ‘easy knit’ in that it is best knit only in stocking stitch or garter stitch. The fabric has no stitch definition when knitted, but instead creates a wonderful furry fabric.

CABLED COWL or SCARF
One 2-hour Session

Date & Time: Friday, November 16/18 from 10 am – 12 pm

This class will give you a chance to work with a bulky weight yarn that knits up quickly and at the same time, add to your knitting skills repertoire! The Cabled Cowl or Scarf class is suitable for all knitters, from beginners who know how to knit & purl to the experienced who want to brush up on their cable skills (i.e. How to prevent “that gap” at the cable crossings). And, you may choose if you prefer to knit the pattern as a cowl, or to finish it as a scarf.
During class you will learn how to read a pattern, do a provisional cast on (or crochet cast on, if you are knitting the Scarf), keep borders aligned, seed stitch, crossing cables both right & left, use of cable needle, markers & lifeline, and to finish your Cowl, you have the choice of mattress stitch, 3-needle cast-off or grafting. Plus any number of other skills/techniques that may arise in class from what we affectionately call a “Teachable Moment” (i.e. picking up stitches, ripping back, fixing miss-crossed cables, etc).

Come join me in a beginner needle felting class! Have you ever wanted to try your hand at needle felting, but can’t figure out where to begin? This class is for you! We will learn the basics of needle felting while using the new needle felting kits from Infiknit to make a Poinsettia Flower! Each kit contains enough fiber & felt to make two felted flowers in the shape of a poinsettia. Sew a flower onto a hat, headband, or bag. Use a flower for a brooch (two brooch backs are included), a place setting, a fridge magnet and much more. Flowers are approx. 2” x 3”. Extra kits will be available for sale after class because, take my word for it: needle felting is great fun and you’ll want to keep going at home!

Each kit contains enough fiber, felt, beads, and decorative cord to make two felted ornaments in the shape of decorated trees. In this class we will learn the basics of needle felting, and we will have enough time to make one full ornament and get well on our way to making the second.
