REQUESTING VOLUNTEERS
Volunteer knitters and crocheters are needed for the Baby Bundle program at LHSC (Victoria Hospital). Layettes are provided and distributed by Social Workers to moms they deem in need.
Sweaters, hats and mitts are needed immediately.

CABLED COWL or SCARF
One 2-hour Session
Cost: $40 (includes yarn & pattern)
Date & Time: Friday, November 16/18 from 10 am – 12 pm

This class will give you a chance to work with a bulky weight yarn that knits up quickly and at the same time, add to your knitting skills repertoire! The Cabled Cowl or Scarf class is suitable for all knitters, from beginners who know how to knit & purl to the experienced who want to brush up on their cable skills (i.e. How to prevent “that gap” at the cable crossings). And, you may choose if you prefer to knit the pattern as a cowl, or to finish it as a scarf.
During class you will learn how to read a pattern, do a provisional cast on (or crochet cast on, if you are knitting the Scarf), keep borders aligned, seed stitch, crossing cables both right & left, use of cable needle, markers & lifeline, and to finish your Cowl, you have the choice of mattress stitch, 3-needle cast-off or grafting. Plus any number of other skills/techniques that may arise in class from what we affectionately call a “Teachable Moment” (i.e. picking up stitches, ripping back, fixing miss-crossed cables, etc).

Felted Friends: SVEN THE GARDEN GNOME
One 2-hour Session

It's time for the second installment of the Felted Friends workshop series! Oliver the Owl was a hoot, and now it's Sven's turn! Sven is an adorable little garden gnome that will preside over your Felted Friends garden of wee beasties.
Needle felting, if you've never done it before, is a great stress-reliever! No special skills required, and you do not need to know how to knit or crochet (or even needle felt!) to attend this workshop. Experience in one of the other needle felting classes will be a benefit, but is certainly not required. All skill levels are welcome!
With Sven, this is going to be a coloured fleece "buffet-style" class, as we know all of you have different tastes about what colours garden gnomes should be. With your registration, everyone will get the same amount of raw fleece for forming into Sven's shape. With this fleece, you can choose to make Sven in a variety of sizes, the largest being the same as our store sample. If you choose to do a ‘wee Sven’, then you can do more than one. There will be ample fleece in the “buffet” for everyone to pick & choose their colours. There will also be flesh-toned fleece for Sven's nose, and a new and improved "curly lock" available for his beard. You can also choose to do a plain, smooth beard if you prefer a more "Svelte Sven".

Join us for our very first edition of a brand new “Master Sawks” Series of classes with Jen at London Yarns!
Have you knit a bunch of pairs of cuff-down and/or toe-up socks and you’re starting to get bored? Let’s jump back on that ‘sock knitting bandwagon’ and re-energize your sock knitting by trying something completely different – SOCKS FROM THE HEEL OUT!
Yes, you heard that right! Cast on at the heel and knit out towards the instep, knit down to the toe and then up to the cuff. This interesting, new method of knitting socks will increase your knitting skills and get you excited about socks again!
Skills used/taught in this class: knitting in the round, purling in the round, kfb, m1 lifted bar increase, k2tog and ssk decreases, k2togtbl decreases, k1tbl twisted stitches, twisted rib, 3-needle bind off, grafting/Kitchener stitch, sewn bind-off, Jenny’s Magic Cast On & Jenny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off – we will be getting a refresher of all of these techniques in the class, so don't worry if some of them sound unfamiliar to you!
Rated: All Experienced Sock Knitters
Pre-Requisite: must be comfortable knitting socks on double-pointed needles, must have knit socks before, must be comfortable with knitting and purling in the round, must be comfortable with the Kitchener stitch (grafting). This class is not a class for beginners! Please be prepared for “homework knitting” between classes. Participants must be able to attend all classes.

NEEDLE FELTING with JEN: Felt a Festive Poinsettia Flower!
One 1.5-hour Session (Materials Included)

Come join me in a beginner needle felting class! Have you ever wanted to try your hand at needle felting, but can’t figure out where to begin? This class is for you! We will learn the basics of needle felting while using the new needle felting kits from Infiknit to make a Poinsettia Flower! Each kit contains enough fiber & felt to make two felted flowers in the shape of a poinsettia. Sew a flower onto a hat, headband, or bag. Use a flower for a brooch (two brooch backs are included), a place setting, a fridge magnet and much more. Flowers are approx. 2” x 3”. Extra kits will be available for sale after class because, take my word for it: needle felting is great fun and you’ll want to keep going at home!

Come join me in a beginner needle felting class! Have you ever wanted to try your hand at needle felting, but can’t figure out where to begin? This class is for you! Each kit contains enough fiber, felt, beads, and decorative cord to make two felted ornaments in the shape of decorated trees. In this class we will learn the basics of needle felting, and we will have enough time to make one full ornament and get well on our way to making the second. Extra kits will be available for sale after class, because take my word for it: needle felting is great fun and you’ll want to keep going at home!

NEEDLE FELTING with Jen: Felt a Poppy!
One 1-hour Session

We are pleased to offer a brand new needle felting class with Jen! This class will feature a 2-dimensional felted poppy, and the kit (included in the price of the class, and also available for order separately) comes with everything you need to complete two poppies: a felting needle, a felting mat, red pure wool felting fibre, beads, 2 brooch clasps, beading thread, and a beading needle. During class, you will make and complete one poppy brooch, and then you can take the kit home with you and make the second one! Wear your poppy with pride as Remembrance Day is just around the corner!
We will we still have two different dates available for this workshop in the hopes that all of you will have the opportunity to make this beautiful brooch, just in time to honour Remembrance Day on November 11th. The cost of each class is $32.00. (Remember, that price includes the felting kit)
Each class has a maximum of 8 participants, and if this class is anything like our previous felting workshops, they will fill up very quickly! Come on in to the store or give us a call to register to reserve your spot.
The best part about this kit? $1 of the proceeds of each kit will go towards services for Veterans in Canada. Carol, the owner of Infiknit in Toronto, our needle felting distributor, holds Veterans very near and dear to her heart: her father fought in World War II and turns 104 years old in October!
