What is so special about Radiant Cotton??? I’m soooo glad you asked. Let’s learn a little bit about what makes this yarn so very special and appealing to work with and wear.
Radiant Cotton resists pilling and has a luxurious sheen that gives a polished look to finished pieces. This 100% Egyptian cotton is pleasing to use, with a high quality worthy of your time and talents.
“Egyptian cotton has developed quite a reputation in the hand-knitting world, but some of you may recall that it’s been in high demand for bedding and linens as well because of its superior characteristics. Egyptian cotton has a very long staple and its own natural sheen. It absorbs colour extremely well compared to some other cottons. Another key aspect about the integrity of this cotton is that it is hand-picked rather than machine harvested, which keeps the fibers sturdy.
When spun for hand-knitting, Egyptian cotton keeps its famous softness and sheen at the same time. Four individually spun plies of the cotton fibers are spun together to make Radiant Cotton.” – quoted from Knitmuch
Radiant Cotton’s DK weight makes it a versatile choice for lots of different projects, from sweaters and cardigans to lacey shawls and cowls that take the chill out of a cool summer's evening. Cotton is ideal for warmer-weather garments, or for those who are sensitive to animal fibers.
Radiant Cotton is made of 100% cotton grown in Egypt and processed in Turkey. Being machine washable & dryable makes this yarn perfect for baby & childrens wear too.

Why the name “L’il Toad Toppers, you may wonder? Here is Janet to elaborate:
As part of our Dragonpine Designs Pattern line, London Yarns is thrilled to share with you “L’il Toad Toppers”. Designed by Nancy Herrington for London Yarns, these “cute as a button” patterns are simply irresistible for all of the little “toads” in your life!
“The name “L’iI Toad” stems from my childhood, or more accurately, my babyhood. When I was just a wee little one in the stroller on a walk with my Mom and Dad, a complete stranger stopped by to peek into the buggy. Upon seeing me, she exclaimed “Oh my, what a cute little toad”. To this day, some 50+ years later, I am still referred to as “the little toad”. This name even appears in Birthday and Christmas Cards from my parents, Katy Lu and Sam. In tribute to my Dad who I lost in 2013, I have named these new designs “L’il Toad Toppers”.
This line of patterns has something to please everyone; girls, boys, and newborns alike. The designs range from a simple but stylish newborn hat (perfect for the beginner knitter) and feature many themes including flowers, fruits and insects, to cars, tractors and trains. Another Highlighted Yarn…
True to the saying, “good things come in small packages”, TAHITI is an apt example. Though small in size & often overlooked, it is one of the finest, fine cotton yarns to work with. These little donut balls are so unassuming, drawing little attention to themselves, but inside are packed full of Italian made, non-mercerized cotton with long colour changes, generous yardage and is machine washable. Tahiti can very easily be overlooked on the shelf, but when it is knit, crocheted or woven into a striking piece of ‘fibre art’ then it commands the attention it is rightfully due.
We here at the store (as well as some of our customers) have worked with and been very impressed with Tahiti and we wish to share our enthusiasm for this yarn with you too!
Please have a look at the “Reyna Shawl” that Janet knit out of just 2 balls of Tahiti – both balls of the same colour (the colour changes happen automatically from within each ball).
And our own Dragonpine Designs “Waterfall Scarf” takes just one ball of Tahiti – look how pretty & delicate the stitch pattern shows up when knit with Tahiti and how it complements the subtle colour changes in the yarn. The Pattern is written for both fingering weight and DK weight yarns – it would also look stunning in Radiant Cotton (just one skein makes the scarf).
