Learn professional techniques in adapting the knitting process to properly prepare your knitted pieces that result in beautiful seaming & finishing.  These will include, but are not be limited to, provisional cast on, provisional cast off, proper use of waste yarn, reading & accomplishing over 50 stitches and their abbreviations, minimizing the number of pieces to assemble, knitting top down, bottom up, as well as multi directional borders, use of lifelines, 3-needle cast off & mattress stitch.

All students will learn to "read between the lines" of their patterns and feel empowered to make these changes knowing that you will achieve a professional overall finish to your afghan.
By working through this process & building these skills you will be equipped with the confidence to apply these techniques in many future projects.

Joining our group for these sessions will be a perfect way to keep you motivated and forging ahead to complete what is sure to become a treasured work of art.  Finished afghan size is approximately 56” x 80”.

This class will give you a chance to work with a bulky weight yarn that knits up quickly and at the same time, add to your knitting skills repertoire!  The Cabled Cowl or Scarf class is suitable for all knitters, from beginners who know how to knit & purl to the experienced who want to brush up on their cable skills (i.e. How to prevent “that gap” at the cable crossings)  And you may choose if you prefer to knit the pattern as a cowl, or to finish it as a scarf.

During class you will learn how to read a pattern, do a provisional cast on (or crochet cast on, if you are knitting the Scarf), keep borders aligned, seed stitch, crossing cables both right & left, use of cable needle, markers & lifeline, and to finish your Cowl, you have the choice of mattress stitch, 3-needle cast-off or grafting.  Plus any number of other skills/techniques that may arise in class from what we affectionately call a “Teachable Moment” (i.e. picking up stitches, ripping back, fixing miss-crossed cables, etc).

HELP!! (formerly known as “Mentoring”)

Teachers:  Janet & Cathy

Dates & Times:

‘Mentoring”’ ... Not just for UFO’s anymore!!  Now you can take a Mentoring Session (or two or three) to expand your knitting skills.  If there has every been a class that we’ve offered, but didn’t work with your schedule, or one of our original Dragonpine Design Patterns that has caught your eye, but you didn’t know if you could manage it on your own ... now is the time to take advantage of our Mentoring & Skill Building Sessions!  We highly encourage you to start something new, take on a new project and expand your knitting skills while under the helpful guidance of our experienced & patient teachers – Janet & Cathy.

Other scenarios that may apply to these Mentoring Sessions:

     •    Maybe you have a project that has been squirreled away for quite some time that you became stuck on and just need a hand picking it back up and carrying on with it.

     •    Maybe you just need a single session to get past a stumbling block that you have encountered in your current project.

     •    Maybe you would like to tackle a project that is a little intimidating and would like some coaching as you work through it.

If any of these scenarios apply to you, then these mentoring sessions are just for you!

The beauty of these sessions is that YOU CHOOSE which dates you would like to come, either the Wednesday dates or the Friday dates or you can mix and match.  YOU DO NOT NEED TO COME TO EVERY SESSION OFFERED.  Simply come to the ones you need to!  All we ask is that you call the store to register to let us know when you will be coming.  The only pre-requisite is that we need a working copy of your pattern BEFORE the session so we may familiarize ourselves with what you are tackling.  Simply bring the pattern into the store and we will make a working copy for both of us.

OOPS! I MADE A MISTAKE – For Beginners
One 2.5-hour Session
Cost:  $35.00
Date & Time:  Saturday, January 20/18 from 10 am – 1 pm
Teacher:  Louise

THIS CLASS IS PERFECT FOR ALL BEGINNER & EXPERIENCED KNITTERS ALIKE!
Lately we have had loads of requests to do a workshop on fixing mistakes. Well here it is! This hands-on class will not only teach you how to deal with all kinds of “knitting disasters” like dropped and twisted stitches and un-picking one or many rows, but will also deal with things like; “how do I know what row of my pattern I’m on” and “Oh-No! All of the stitches fell off of my needle! What do I do? And “Oh-No! The phone rang, I set down my knitting and now I don’t know how to start up again! So often customers tell us that they unravelled all of their knitting and started over simply because they didn’t have the skills to fix their mistake; Oh My! Never again after this workshop! Simply put, all beginner knitters can benefit from taking this class.
Rated: All Knitters
Pre-Requisite: Knowledge of Knit & Purl Stitches
