‘PURPLE’ FRIDAY (& SATURDAY) CHARITY/CLEARANCE EVENT

Did you know?..... November Is The Month of Purple!
Good day everyone! I just wanted to share with you some of my own thoughts on a custom that our neighbours to the south hold every year. The day following the US Thanksgiving is called, much to my chagrin, “Black Friday”. I must admit that I personally never liked the term; it sounds so negative and dismal especially with the lack of daylight and dreary weather that we experience this time of year. I was even more disappointed when Canadian retailers started to adopt this annual event holding Black Friday Sales in our area. I do get asked often enough what, if anything, London Yarns is doing for this day, and usually the answer is “nada”! This year, I decided to put a POSITIVE spin on this bleak sounding day by hosting our own PURPLE FRIDAY/SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY EVENT!
With SO many charities in our area using the colour purple as their mascot colour, it seemed appropriate to raise awareness for them, creating something positive out of this day; AND… EVERYONE comments on how they love our purple bags, so a purple Friday seemed very fitting.
All charities do wonderful, valuable work and we encourage all of you to support your favourite one, but this week, we have decided to share with you the needs of the London branch of Women’s Community House (recently re-named ANOVA). We have offered to collect donations for this worthwhile cause this Friday and Saturday.

Coincidentally, the Saturday following “Purple Friday” is also “Small Business Saturday”. Please join us either Friday or Saturday to take advantage of some FABULOUS SAVINGS! In order to make more room for the exciting new stock we are expecting, we are offering HUGE discounts on many in-stock yarns.

This time around, we are going to let you know that the finished project is a triangular scarf/shawl – but that’s ALL we are going to say. This KAL is suitable for all knitters, including beginners through to advanced. Choose from more than 9 different yarn brands featuring hundreds of colour choices. There is sure to be a yarn option to suit all budgets as well as all fibre preferences. This project lends itself nicely to solids, heathers, tweeds, variegated and slow colour changing yarns. The project itself will work up quickly, making it easy to complete before the holidays as ALL clues will be provided to you at the time you register. Clues will be emailed (unless otherwise requested) in one package so you can feel free to work at your own pace, progressing as quickly as you choose. (Project costs range from $6.98 - $27.98 and registration fee is just $3.00 to join our KAL.)
The KAL Pattern requires a 6mm x 60cm circular knitting needle – Why not treat yourself to a new style of fixed or interchangeable needle (eg. Addi, LYKKE, Kollage, etc.) and see for yourself what a difference a needle can make!
Registration for the KAL is ongoing but, remember, the sooner you sign up, the sooner you can get knitting! Come in or call in to register and select your yarn. Clues are available at time of registration.
