Can you feel it???? That hint of Fall in the air? I’ve even seen a couple of trees starting to change colour!! With Fall comes an exciting knitting/crochet time of year of new yarns, new patterns and new possibilities. To help you get ready for a fun & busy knitting/crochet season, we are promoting & discounting the equipment with which to make our craft an even more enjoyable experience, during the last of our Summer Savings Sale Days.
Please join us any time from 9:30 am until 9:00 pm this Wednesday, August 30th for the final sale of our Summer Savings Events. Your project is completed. You enjoyed it immensely. You’re pleased, ‘for the most part’, with the finished product, but something’s not quite right. That edge curls a little. The seam sits a bit funny. The tension looks just a bit uneven. What can be done? BLOCKING – an essential step in your knitting life.
Many don’t know about blocking, some just ‘skip’ it, but it truly is of GREAT benefit. It puts the ‘polish’ on your project and after all the hours & hours you put into making it, doesn’t it deserve to look its very best? And so, again, this is where this week’s sale will really help out …
If you've ever taken Janet's "Blocking Your Knits" class, you've come to understand just how invaluable blocking is. It puts the 'finishing touch' on your knits, polishing them off, so to speak and makes all the difference – from it looking "home made" to "hand made". Whether you wet block or steam block, these accessories are invaluable:
Blocking Boards are an essential piece of equipment for your blocking needs. Our Blocking Boards are 30" x 40" (75cm x 100cm), made with wood backing and 3” (7.5cm) thick foam, covered with gingham and will tolerate the hottest of steam. The foam is dense enough to firmly hold the T-pins in place while at the same time allowing ease of use when inserting and removing the pins. Also, because the foam is 3 inches thick, the T-pins can be inserted straight down into the foam, rather than on an angle, placing no stress or distortion on the piece you are blocking.
Interlocking Blocking Mats Package
These foam rubber mats fit together like puzzle pieces to make the size and shape you need. It is an affordable and portable alternative to blocking boards.

- Each mat measures 12” x12” (30 x 30cm)
- Include handy zippered storage/carry case

- Use with blocking wires and pins to shape finished projects
Blocking Wires – (sold individually or as a set)
Simply slip the wire through the edges of your lace project and place pins along the inside of the wires to hold them in place while the lace dries. If you have scalloped edges you will want to slip the wire through the outer edges of your scallops to emphasize them. Follow the same rules as pin or string blocking by measuring the radius of your finished piece as you adjust the wires. Wires measure 34.5"/880mm long (est. 15 gauge), made of stainless steel and rust proof. (Hint: The first time you use your blocking wires, wipe them with a soft cloth to remove manufacturing residue.)
Individual Wires: 34 1/2” in length, buy one or more as needed
Blocking Wire Sets:
Option 1: a total of 15 wires in a cardboard tube – 6 x 38”, 6 x 20” & 3 x 38” flexible, 20 T-pins & measuring tape are included.
Option 2: a total of 15 wires in a cardboard tube – all are the same length of 34 1/2”, 20 T-pins & blocking instructions are included.
T-pins are stainless steel & rust proof for fast, easy insertion. T-head design offers more pushing surface allowing for greater control, less finger fatigue and covers more knit surface, holding your knits securely in place. Pins come in a package of 50, measure 1½” (40 mm) long and have their own convenient container.
Bent Fork Blocking Pins
These rust resistant double pins can quickly pierce and firmly hold knit items while blocking. The grip of the double pin is bent for ease in handling. Packaged in a sturdy plastic case with slide out drawer; 35 pins per package.
