Our First Feature:
In keeping with our celebration of Canada’s 150th Birthday, we thought it would be fun to feature some of the Canadian Companies and Canadian Artisans that we are proud to deal with here at the store. THIS WEEK AND NEXT, we will celebrate all things Canadian and pass on incredible savings to you! Watch next week’s email carefully though, as we are featuring different Canadian products in each sale event!

Colleen's Creations: CollKnits
Made by hand from a local artisan, “Colleen's Creations" offers:
- Double pointed needle holders or work-in-progress holders. Available in 6” and 8” sizes
- Zippered project bags. Available in sizes that hold 1-2 skeins, 2-3 skeins, and 3-4 skeins
- Drawstring project bags. Available in sizes that hold 1-2 skeins, 2-3 skeins, and 3-4 skeins
These bags and project holders are very sturdy and stand up on their own for easy “knitting on the go”. Fabric choices and colours vary with each new delivery we get from Colleen, so make sure you check out our selection every few weeks! Sheep, music notes, balls of yarn...oh my!
All Yarn Bowls
The yarn bowls we carry in the store are all made locally by woodworkers and potters! We have solid wood yarn bowls hand turned from solid wood branches or trunks of trees. Each bowl is identified on the bottom with the type of tree it came from!
Pottery bowls are made from two different local artisans, and feature beautiful patterns and shapes in all different sizes! Selection available may be different than what is pictured; we receive new deliveries of yarn bowls all the time! Make sure you stop in and check out our current stock.
Moosehill Woodworks
Made by hand in New Brunswick, we have double pointed needle holders, darning needle holders, yarn caddies, and nostepinnes!
- Yarn caddies are like a "lazy Susan" for yarn! The top spindle spins freely on the wooden base, allowing your yarn to perfectly unwind from the outside of any type of ball of yarn (hand-wound, wound using a ball winder, or commercial balls of yarn). Using two at once for colourwork helps prevent your yarn from tangling!
- Nostepinnes are tools used to wind centre-pull balls of yarn by hand. They require a bit of practice, but in no time you'll be winding perfect balls of yarn that don't collapse in the centre while you're knitting!
If we don't have what you want (need a longer shaft on your yarn caddy? Not a problem!), please let us know and we'll chat with the Moosehill artisan about a custom piece for you.
SOAK Wool Wash and Blocking Spray
We are very pleased to now offer SOAK in the store! We carry the trial packs, the small (90ml, approx 18 washes), and the large (375ml, approx 75 washes) rinse-free wool wash in all available scents, the “Flatter" rinse-free blocking spray (248ml, enough to block hundreds of items!) in all available scents, and the Luxury Hand Creme (90ml). Each product is available in all scents, including scentless. SOAK sets itself apart by not only being made from plant-derived, and renewable, ingredients but is also packaged in recycled plastic, is phosphate-free and dye-free, and does not contain lanolin (for those sensitive to wool!). Not just for wool, this rinse-free wash is perfect for lingerie and bathing suits, and all of your hand knit or crochet items!
There Was A Tree buttons
Made by a local artisan who’s husband is an arborist, these real wood buttons are kiln-dried and sealed with mineral oils before they are delivered to us. This makes the buttons not only washable, but also non-toxic for all your little ones! Perfect for children’s clothing and adult clothing alike. Selection is always changing with every new delivery, so make sure you stop in to check out our current stock!

Briggs & Little Woolen Mill
Briggs & Little comes to us direct from the woolen mill in New Brunswick! The yarn is made out of sheep raised in New Brunswick, and the yarn is spun and dyed in their mill! A “truly Canadian" yarn.
For the first time, we are pleased to offer ALL yarns by Briggs & Little! We carry Tuffy and Durasport as regular stock, but we will be placing an order immediately after the sale for new stock. Minimum orders are only a single skein, and we have yarn samples on hand to show you all of your colour choices and weights available. Want to try the super-chunky Country Roving? Just let us know and we can order that for you! Orders must be paid for at the time of the sale, and are included in the "Canadiana Sale”.

Dragonpine Designs Patterns
Dragonpine Designs is our very own in-house design pattern line. All patterns have designed by our awesome staff! We offer full pattern support for all "DP" patterns, and even use some of them to teach our classes (like the beginner sock class, the toe-up sock class, all machine knitting classes, and one was even our first Mystery Knit Along!). All patterns for hand-knitters and machine knitters are included in the sale.
Knitter's Gift Tags
These gift tags are designed and created in-store. Each tag has a cute animal featured on the front and has space for the recipient’s name and the name of the knitter. The back of the card has space for fibre content, the yarn used, and care instructions of the finished item. Perfect for all your gift-giving needs!
“One Day Designs” Pattern Leaflets
These pattern leaflets are all designed by a local knitwear and accessory designer. Come in and check out these beautiful patterns!
Our Second Feature:
In keeping with our mission to get ready for fall and “clean house”, so to speak, this week we are offering you incredible savings on some of our best selling current yarns. We have just been advised which colours are not being repeated for the upcoming fall season in the current yarn ranges that we carry, so we are clearing them out and are happy to offer them to you at incredible savings! As well, we have gone through our entire inventory and pulled out any skeins or balls that are odd dye lots or “one-onlys”. These “oddballs” are perfect for all of those “one-skein” projects. Use them to make gifts like hats, mittens, fingerless gloves, cowls, or socks. Combine a few of them and you could make a stunning wrap, scarf or shawl. Some of the discontinued colours are not “one-onlys” and multiple skeins or balls are available in certain colourways. They would lend themselves beautifully for making garments as well as charity/donation knitting.
Be sure to get into the store as soon as possible on Wednesday for best selection and first choice. Almost every single one of our yarn brands will have at least a candidate or 2 for the “oddballs” and discontinued shade discount bin!

REQUESTING VOLUNTEERS
Volunteer knitters and crocheters are needed for the Baby Bundle program at LHSC (Victoria Hospital). Layettes are provided and distributed by Social Workers to moms they deem in need. Thirty-five were given out last year!
Baby boy sweaters, hats and mitts are needed immediately.
