Are you making a Maple Leaf Shawl?  You may want to consider taking the next Blocking class that we have scheduled in June, as this shawl, along with all our other projects, benefit tremendously from the final step of blocking.  Come & see what a difference it makes and why it is sooooo worth doing!

We are so excited to be able to offer not one, but TWO dyeing classes on Sunday, June 25th.  Please read on for specifics.
(P.S. Janice’s schedule is rather booked for the summer, so this may be the last date that we can schedule with her until the Fall/Winter – just a little ‘FYI’)

TO REGISTER for any of the following Workshops, you may do so in person at the store anytime or you can register over the phone with credit card info; call us at 519-474-0403.

Pre-Requisite:  Knowledge of Knit and Purl Stitches & familiar with cable techniques

MACHINE KNITTERS ‘MENTORING’ PROJECTS
Sessions available according to project chosen

Time:  9:30 am – 12:30 pm (both sessions)
Teachers:  Janet and/or Judy

For those of you who already own an LK150 Knitting Machine we are setting up days and times for you to work on any of our existing Dragonpine Design patterns or any of our previously offered Machine Knitting Workshops.  Janet & Judy will be on hand to assist & guide you during these sessions.  It’s simple, sign up for the workshop and then choose the days and times that work for you and your schedule.  Simply CLICK HERE to read about all of the classes we are offering and sign up for those that you want to take.

Most of the time slots will be 3 – 4 hours in length to avoid “information overload”.  You can attend as many sessions as the finished project requires based on the amount of time allotted for it in the workshop description.  The sessions will be casual and fun with breaks to stretch your legs and change your focus!

We know how busy life can be, and we here at London Yarns are aware of how you would love to squeeze in some time to be creative and have some fun.  We hope that these sessions will accomplish just that!

Here are the offerings, so far.  Keep in mind, as new projects are released, the list of available workshops will keep growing.  Let’s get knitting!

MENTORING & SKILLS BUILDING FOR HAND KNITTERS
2-hour Session
Cost: $25 per single session OR buy 4 sessions & get the 5th one free (paid in advance)
Dates:
    Wednesdays:  June 7 & 21, July 5 & 19 / 2017
    Fridays:  June 16 & 30, July 14 & 28 / 2017
Time:  10 am - 12 pm (all sessions)
Teachers:  Janet & Cathy

‘Mentoring”’ ... Not just for UFO’s anymore!!  Now you can take a Mentoring Session (or two or three) to expand your knitting skills.  If there has every been a class that we’ve offered, but didn’t work with your schedule, or one of our original Dragonpine Design Patterns that has caught your eye, but you didn’t know if you could manage it on your own ... now is the time to take advantage of our Mentoring & Skill Building Sessions!  We highly encourage you to start something new, take on a new project and expand your knitting skills while under the helpful guidance of our experienced & patient teachers – Janet & Cathy.

The beauty of these sessions is that YOU CHOOSE which dates you would like to come, either the Wednesday dates or the Friday dates or you can mix and match.  YOU DO NOT NEED TO COME TO EVERY SESSION OFFERED.  Simply come to the ones you need to!  All we ask is that you call the store to register to let us know when you will be coming.  The only pre-requisite is that we need a working copy of your pattern BEFORE the session so we may familiarize ourselves with what you are tackling.  Simply bring the pattern into the store and we will make a working copy for both of us.

COST:  If you are coming to a single session or are coming “hit and miss” as you need us, the price will be $25.00 per session

NEW CLASS…
‘YARN TO “DYE” FOR’ – Introduction:
We are so excited to be announcing the latest workshop roster for this spring season.  To start things off, we have a brand new workshop to offer you.  Have you ever heard of a “Blank?”  Well, if not, let us enlighten you!  A “Blank” is a term that describes a piece of knitting that is knit flat, in stockinette stitch, with natural, un-dyed, fingering weight yarn. This rectangle is then prepared for the dye and dye is applied to it. Once the dyeing is complete and the dye is set, then the Blank (which is no longer “blank”) is dried and the yarn is re-wound into balls to knit or crochet with!  When a Blank is produced for socks, the Blank is knit using a double strand of yarn. Upon completion, when the 2 strands of the Blank are unravelled, 2 identical balls emerge so your socks will match perfectly!  How cool is that?  When the Blank is used for a shawl, the Blank will be knit with a single strand of yarn.  We are also thrilled to announce that Sock and Shawl Blanks will be ready-made and available for purchase here at the store in a variety of fibre blends, sizes, and price ranges.

Please join us for this new workshop that will prove to be relaxing, exciting and REALLY FUN!!!

‘YARN TO “DYE” FOR’ – LEARN TO DYE A “BLANK” (For Socks or Shawls)
One  2-Hour Session
Cost:  $70.00 (Includes a 100 gram, pre-knit/ready-made Sock or Shawl Blank and EVERYTHING you need to dye your Blank = all materials & tools will be supplied) [**additional Blanks can be purchased separately]
Date & Time:  Sunday Morning, June 25/17 from 10 am – 12 pm
OR  Sunday Afternoon, June 25/17 from 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm
Teacher:  Janice

PLEASE NOTE:  The Sock & Shawl Blanks needed for this Dyeing Workshop will be PRE-KNIT, READY-MADE and provided for you in this class.

Please join us to welcome Janice as she teaches us all how to dye a “Blank!” Imagine applying dye to your very own Blank using your own choice of colours and learning many techniques on how to apply the dye using different mediums.  Apply the dye horizontally, vertically, diagonally, or free-form with a sponge or spritz!  Learn what effects the different methods have on the finished yarn.  You could even dye a secret message on your blank for a special person or occasion; kind of like creating your own code!

Janice, being the skilled and creative person that she is, will really help you to ‘let go of your fears’ when it comes to Dyeing and assist you to “Play” with colour and embrace the “Fun” side of the Dyeing process.  Students will complete their first Blank in class and learn everything they need to go home and capably dye all kinds of Blanks, repeating the dyeing process again and again.

Everything you need will be provided (other than some old clothes and a towel) for you during this hands-on dyeing workshop. We are happy to let you know that the dyes we will be using are non-toxic and food safe, containing no nasty fumes or harmful chemicals. Be sure to join us! This workshop is going to be LOADS OF FUN, FUN, FUN…we can hardly wait!
Rated:  Everyone
Pre-Requisite:  None

Important!!  Please remember to dress accordingly!  Be sure to wear clothing, that if dye accidentally gets splashed or spritzed on you, it will not ruin good clothing.

We will be in touch next week, with ‘more news from the Storefront’.
