HOLIDAY MONDAY ‘REVEAL’

Monday, May 22, 2017 – Holiday Monday ‘Reveal’

Hello!  How was your weekend? We had a beautiful day on Saturday, then the Spring Flowers & budding trees got a good watering on Sunday.  Cool nights, for those that were camping though!  Since the store is CLOSED TODAY, Monday, May 22nd for Victoria Day, we thought we might share more photos with you on your day off.

Remember the Dyeing Class pictures in last week’s email????  Well, some of you may have wondered, ‘what does a dyed blank look like after it is skeined, wound and/or knit with’?  Hmmmmmm???  Well, today we are sharing with you a “reveal”, of sorts.  Here are the resulting yarns from our staff members’ dyed Blanks (in alphabetical order):

Pretty cool, eh?!?!  It is really fun to create your very own, unique, one-of-a-kind colourway to use for socks or shawls!  Do you feel inspired?  Intrigued?  Want to try something new?  Keep an eye on your emails!  If all goes ‘according to plan’, we are hoping to schedule another dyeing workshop in June.

OOPS! I MADE A MISTAKE – For Beginners
One 2.5-hour Session
Cost:  $35.00
Date & Time:   Saturday, June 3/17 from 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm
Teacher:  Louise

THIS CLASS IS PERFECT FOR
ALL BEGINNER KNITTERS
Lately we have had loads of requests to do a workshop on fixing mistakes. Well here it is! This hands-on class will not only teach you how to deal with all kinds of “knitting disasters” like dropped and twisted stitches and un-picking one or many rows, but will also deal with things like; “how do I know what row of my pattern I’m on” and “Oh-No! All of the stitches fell off of my needle! What do I do? And “Oh-No! The phone rang, I set down my knitting and now I don’t know how to start up again! So often customers tell us that they unravelled all of their knitting and started over simply because they didn’t have the skills to fix their mistake; Oh My! Never again after this workshop! Simply put, all beginner knitters can benefit from taking this class.
Rated: All Knitters
Pre-Requisite: Knowledge of Knit & Purl Stitches

With sock knitting being all the rage, let’s experiment with different ways of knitting them.  Toe up socks are easy to do, and if you think about it, make a whole lot of sense.  By knitting your socks from the toe up, you can be guaranteed a perfect fit because you can try them on as you go AND , more importantly, if you are running shy on yarn, you are guaranteed of getting at least both of your feet knit – no more different coloured toes!  Basically your yarn supply will determine whether you are making ankle socks or knee socks!  The great thing about this workshop, other than knitting socks, of course, is that you will learn a wonderful new cast-on, a new way to turn a heel, and a neat new way to cast-off; and, you guessed it… you don’t need to graft the toes when you are finished!
Rated:  All Knitters
Pre-Requisite: Knowledge of Knit and Purl Stitches; Beneficial to have worked on double pointed or 2 circulars

Hope the rest of your day goes well.
Patti-Ann
