BETTER LATE THAN NEVER?
Monday, March 6, 2017 – Better Late than Never?
... or so the saying goes. Our regular “Monday” email is just a little late this week – our apologies for that. But, to make up for it, we have some exciting offerings for you today. Please have a read through; even if you are not a machine knitter, perhaps there is something that might inspire you to further investigate the wonderful world of Machine Knitting.
Attention: All Machine Knitters AND Potential Machine Knitters
We have some exciting news to share with all of you! We have been very busy here at the store creating and publishing new patterns for you to enjoy on the LK150 Knitting Machine. A big “thank you” goes out to Judy who has been a tremendous help in designing, test knitting, teaching, and proof-reading/deciphering my notes and transferring them into the computer. As well I owe Patti-Ann a huge “thank you” for type-setting all of these notes and photographs creating the ever-growing library of Dragonpine Designs for Machine Knitters. We have actually started offering them for sale on “Ravelry.com”, the favourite website for both machine and hand knitters.
We are scheduling some workshops for Machine Knitters here at the shop. Maybe you are not a machine knitter…yet, and would like to be. We are pleased to announce that we are offering our Machine Knitting Basics and “Try Before You Buy” Workshop here at the store by appointment! Simply call the store at 519-474-0403 and book a time slot with us to see just how fascinating the world of machine knitting can be. This session is completely “hands-on” and allows you to knit on the LK150 knitting machine. With our guidance, you will be introduced to the machine and you will make a sample during this session including all of the following techniques:
- Provisional (Waste Yarn) Cast-On
- Crochet Cast-On
- Picot Hem – including Knitting Eyelet
- Knitting Stockinette Stitch
- Fully Fashioned Increases and Decreases
- Fixing Dropped Stitches and “Un-Knitting” Rows
- Cable Stitch
- Purl Stitches
- Casting Off
After this session, you will have been exposed to all of the basic maneuvers on the machine and can decide whether you wish to join us as a machine knitter. It is simply fascinating and fun, and the possibilities are endless! It is so amazing watching the fabric grow ‘oh! so quickly’ on the knitting bed.
For those of you who already own an LK150 Knitting Machine we are setting up days and times for you to work on any of our existing Dragonpine Design patterns or any of our previously offered Machine Knitting Workshops. Janet & Judy will be on hand to assist & guide you during these sessions. It’s simple, sign up for the workshop and then choose the days and times that work for you and your schedule. Simply read on to see all of the classes we are offering and sign up for those that you want to take.
Most of the time slots will be 3 – 4 hours in length to avoid “information overload”. You can attend as many sessions as the finished project requires based on the amount of time allotted for it in the workshop description. The sessions will be casual and fun with breaks to stretch your legs and change your focus!
We know how busy life can be, and we here at London Yarns are aware of how you would love to squeeze in some time to be creative and have some fun. We hope that these sessions will accomplish just that!

The following is a brief list of Machine Knitting Workshops are available to be taken on any or all of these following dates, with more dates to be scheduled soon. You can pick & choose which dates work best for your schedule on the project you prefer. You may come to as many classes/hours that equal your workshops allotted amount of time.
