Malabrigo Caracol
Truly a unique yarn! We start with a bulky thick-and-thin single made of our delightfully soft superwash merino wool, and then we criss-cross it with a binder thread (either black or white.) Then the yarn is dyed one of our signature kettle-dyed colourways, and: poof! Something unlike any yarn we've made before, inspired by a particular style of handspun yarn. Caracol knits up into a cozy, fluffy fabric with a ton of texture and visual interest. Simple stitch patterns really let it sing!

From the HiKoo Peru Collection, Sueño, pronounced “Swen-yo,” means Dream in Spanish. This Peruvian yarn lives up to its moniker! A super soft and springy blend of superwash merino and viscose from bamboo, and is made with strength and wearability in mind. The perfect amount of spring makes knitting with it a pleasure, and allows for a variety of suitable gauges, making this washable yarn perfect for socks, sweaters, accessories, kids garments, and hard-wearing garments that will last a lifetime.

Join Janet to create another new project from the “Dragonpine Designs” library, the Fashionista Hat. This snazzy hat is very flattering to wear and 3 sizes are offered! Students will learn many new techniques to add to their machine knitting repertoire as well as re-visiting some favourite techniques, including knitting and attaching I-Cord, reversible fisherman’s rib, tuck stitch, and the swirl that completes the shaping at the crown. As an added bonus, there is also a variety of knitted flowers that will be knit on the machine that you can adorn the hat with upon completion! These stitches, techniques and flowers can be used over and over again in future projects.
Rated: Machine Knitters with some experience. Students should be proficient with the transfer tools and tappet tool.
Pre-Requisite: Owner of an LK150 Knitting Machine (to be brought to class)
