A Good Sweep - If you're burning a lot of wood during the winter season, it will not hurt to give your chimney one or two sweeps during the spring season.  Having your chimney swept by a professional is generally a slower season during the spring making it the best time to make an appointment. 

Check The Rain Caps -  Winter temperatures and wind speeds make roofing work and chimney work difficult, if not impossible.  Spring is your first chance to make any needed repairs to flashing or rain caps that might have been damaged or lost by months of relentless wind. 

Critter Checks -  With your chimney not being used during the spring season is the perfect times for little critters to turn your chumney into their home. 

Leak Checks -  The summer season is often filled with more rain than the winter season. Moisture that may have been trapped inside your chimney will have frozen during the winter season and then thawed again with the spring heat. This process may have cause damage to the foundation to your chimney. The spring season is your best chance at checking for any signs of caulking or sealant that may have opened up.
